We need to talk about voice change of Austin Butler

Hollywood posers can never stop. So many male actors tried to sound "deep and mature" that they started talking differently after few years in Hollywood. Jensen Ackles is famous example.

And here we have Austin Butler case. Before he was talking smoothly and faster. Then after Elvis he decided to keep his Elvis voice and started talking slow and deep ))) Its hilarious.

And then he commented on it

Butler explained that he spent two years shooting the film with not much time spent out of character. "You spend so much time obsessing about one thing, and it really is like muscular habits, your mouth can change," Butler said. He also chalks it up to "being surrounded by [Elvis's] name everywhere, there's triggers."

When Butler was told his voice was still sounding like Elvis, he laughed, "I hear that a lot." In a tongue-in-cheek comment, Butler added, "I know that I'm constantly changing. Check in with me in 20 years when I've played a lot of roles, who knows what I'll sound like!"

No, voice does not change because you were filming something. And he stopped filming year ago. Andrew Lincoln speaks with his english accent in interviews despite speaking with american accent for many years on Walking Dead. And many other actors.

Austin Butler does it because he wants to sound move deep and Elvis like. And its hilarious )))

He wants to happen so much. But he wont. He is 30 years old and he never got famous for a reason. Because he is not that interesting by himself and not that charismatic. Then he got lucky to be cast as Elvis because they were looking for someone who can resemble him. But he doesnt understand that when things like that happen - actors dont become superstars in one day and get all those lead roles in big movies. Often they just vanish after promotion of their movie ended.

It happened with Alladin guy who then whined that no one hires him. After his Oscar Rami Malek returned to be who he always was - supporting player in movies next to bigger stars. Actress who played Jasmin in Alladin - didnt go anywhere. And that Bridgerton actor who thought he was too famous after his show came and left the show. Regé-Jean Page or whats his name. Then was basically quickly forgotten and all hype around him died.

Austin Butler and Hollywood press convinced themselves that when Elvis will come out - he will immediately become Next Big Thing and Superstar. Which he wont.

reply

he most likely wont become a big A list name like Brad Pitt ,Dicaprio,Hanks or Cruise for the reason that new movie stars are few and far between now (in the age of IP is above all else) .. Elvis will be similar to a superhero role for him (albeit one film) so he will be now known as the Elvis guy like Rami Malick as Freddy Mercury or even Chris Evans as Captain America or Cavill as Superman (both were already becoming abit of lead actor before so post superheros they still bagging the odd lead role) . in the aftermath of Elvis he will obviously show up in supporting roles (like Dune II) as directors/casting people who like his work as Elvis will want him in the movie to give it a boost , if he is nominated and wins the best actor oscar like Malick then maybe he could become a lead movie actor, or maybe he wont and stay in supporting roles who knows. maybe Quentin Tarantino will go all meta and cast him in a remake of GI Blues or Charro!

reply

Cavill will be 007.

reply

Butler does not resemble Elvis physically except for height. And I think he did a marvelous job regardless. I don't know why you care so much if either Jensen or Austin puts on a voice. Who cares? Move on. Get a life. This cancel culture is sickening.

reply

Im against cancel culture and I dont want to "cancel Austin", lol ))))

Its just funny and shows how all those Hollywood people are frauds and so obsessed with being stars. There was no reason for him to change his voice like that. But he did and now people laugh at him for that.

reply

Idk if people are laughing at him, except you. But he apparently studied and embodied this role for 3 years. Makes sense it will stay with you. 1 thing is for sure, he has made me a fan bec of this performance. I've never heard of him prior to this but I will certainly keep an eye out on any future projects he will have.

reply

Not many people are laughing at him because no one cares about him and this movie )))

It was just mentioned in press. Many actors study and embody roles. But none of them start speaking differently after. Its his excuse because people noticed it. I cant believe that someone actually believes it.

He just wants to be taken more seriously and he thinks that deep voice will help him. Thats all. And its funny because he is a try hard.

I remember him from The Shannara Chronicles. he was wearing that stupid long hair and had very little charisma. He should have had short hair long time ago. He’s got a better stylist now.

reply

I disagree. All everyone is talking about is his breakthrough performance in this film. It looks like you have a personal axe to grind against him. And that's too bad, whatever your issues are. But he was phenomenal in this and hope to see him in many more films to come with the same charisma and intensity as he gave in this movie.

reply

Regé-Jean Page is in the lineup for the next Bond.

reply

In his dreams. He isnt "manly" enough for that role.

Every male actor in "in the lineup for the next Bond".

Its not some Doctor Who where they can get budget no matter the ratings because BBC is funded by public. So they dont care about fans and ratings and can cast whoever they want. But Bond movies have huge budget and need to bring money back. There is no way they can afford to alienate fans and cast some "Bridgerton pretty face of the moment" as Bond.

reply

Yeah not really. He's towards the top of the list. Just because you wouldn't consider him for the role, doesn't mean the powers that be are not. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

reply

No one knows who is "on top of the lis", please ))) Its only press speculations every year.

Tom Hiddleston used to be "the top of the list" when he was "hot star of the moment". Never got that Bond role.

This Regé-Jean guy got his 15 minutes of fame and then decided that he is Big Thing now and that his tv show that made him famous is now beneath him and quit. Which was so stupid. And then his 15 minutes of fame were out and now he is "somewhere there"... Bridgerton hype died down quickly. Its no Stranger Things or Boys.

reply

Jeff Bridges has done the same thing. Before "True Grit" he talked like a normal guy. Ever since "True Grit" he's talked like a drunk stroke victim.

reply

Never noticed it. But I dont follow his career. I can never understand what he is saying anyway )))

Same with Karl Urban. Does anyone understand what he is mumbling?

reply

Why do you even care so much? Doesn’t seem like you like the movie or him... Charlie Hunnam actually said he lost his accent after playing Jax in sons on anarchy. This does happen to actors.

reply

Its doesnt happen to actors. British actor never lose their accent.

And you cant even compare someone who played tv character for many years and seasons. And someone who was shooing one movie. Austin does it for attention. )))

reply

You literally have two examples of brits losing their accents because of a role. It’s not that far fetched to believe that someone who is playing such an iconic person and had to lose themselves in a role, to have the mannerisms and the vocal aesthetic of the person stick with them for a while.

reply

Yeah Guy Ritchie teases him about it too. They have great chemistry.

Gary Oldman also needed help regaining his english accent
