Nick Offerman Slams ‘Homophobic Hate’ Against His ‘The Last of Us’ Episode

Nick Offerman Slams ‘Homophobic Hate’ Against His ‘The Last of Us’ Episode: ‘It’s Not a Gay Story. It’s a Love Story, You A–hole!’

”Thank you so much. I’m astonished to be in this category, which is bananas. Thanks to HBO for having the guts to participate in this storytelling tradition that is truly independent. Stories with guts that when homophobic hate comes my way and says, ‘Why did you have to make it a gay story?’ We say, ‘Because you ask questions like that. It’s not a gay story it’s a love story, you asshole!”

Worst episode of the show and served no purpose other than to pander to woke audiences

reply

Congrats on being exactly the type of idiot he's talking about.

The lack of self-awareness isn't even surprising, any more. Sigh.

reply

Dude, we're here. We're queer. Get used to it.

How is it "woke" to show stories which up to 20% of the population can relate to sexually and romantically, and 90% of the population should be able to relate to if they crawl out of their bigoted straight jacket?

I'm gay. I ain't "woke". Get over yourself.

reply

I don't care that you are gay. Whatever. But it had nothing to do with the story. It was a waste of an hour to pander and make two characters gay who weren't even gay in the game. That's pandering.

reply

Would you be crying if it was a heterosexual wedding?

reply

Yes, they were gay in the game. You clearly missed it.

reply

Actually they only hinted at them being gay -- they never showed anything vulgar or disgusting.

reply

SO...GAY...WHAT IS VULGAR OR DISGUSTING WOULD BE SUBJECTIVE...I AM SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY...YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON SOME AWESOME PEOPLE AND STORIES.

reply

Ahahaha... so you enjoy watching gay softcore porn?

Kind of explains a lot.

reply

GAY SOFTCORE PORN?...NO...NOT ESPECIALLY...WHICH IS WHY I SKIP IT...THAT IS NOT WHAT IS BEING DISCUSSED HERE THOUGH.

reply

So even you don't like watching two men snog? Says a lot when even the progressive prefects don't like what their masters are selling.

reply

Not Kowalski - but I'm indifferent to it. I wouldn't watch an entire show about a male gay romance, I'm straight - but gay people being part of a show doesn't bother me.

reply

The hints were very strong. The writing was different, but he was gay.

>- they never showed anything vulgar or disgusting.

Oh don't be such a pathetic little prude. JFC

reply

There was no proof they were gay in the game.

"Shortly after the Bill’s Town chapter in-game, Ellie and Joel are on the road to Tommy’s when Ellie pulls out the magazine she stole from Bill’s stash. Though players are never given a good look at the thing, from the front cover and the way the pair talk about it, it’s clear that this is an adult magazine containing pictures of nude and scantily clad men, giving players the biggest clue to Bill’s sexual identity."

Look for the Light has a 9.0 rating. I didn't see any "homophobic hate" in reviews. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15747178/

reply

That's not the episode he's talking about.

reply

IMDB removes those negative or "homophobic" reviews anyway, so you would only see the most sanitised reviews criticising the episode.

reply

He's showing the wrong episode.

And no they don't:

reply

Those reviews are definitely sanitised -- negative, sure, but I couldn't spot any "homophobic" reviews.

reply

Well, no, any reviews that start throwing hatred at LGBT people likely violate the TOS of IMDB.

But there are still plenty of negative reviews.

I regarded it as like a 6 out of 10.

No one even says anything remotely negative about the alphabet mafia -- they just tiptoe around why they didn't like the episode.

reply

How do you know every negative review hated it because of those reasons though, but merely hides that?

Are there no other reasons to dislike the episode?

reply

I read through the negative reviews and they all had to dance around why they didn't like it. But it was obvious why.

reply

That would be your assumption. Should IMDB allow people to make overtly racist comments in reviews for episodes or shows that prominently feature black people?

reply

I don't see why not? Let users filter out reviews based on things they find offensive. This way people can say what they honestly feel instead of having to tip toe around other people's feelings.

reply

Most sites have terms of services where they disallow sexist, racist, homophobic etc hatred. This is normal. Not every site wants to be moviechat or 4chan.

reply

i love the line mocking 911. truthers. i mean because its not like actual witnesses said they saw no planes and the planes look like they are melting into the building in one of the worst photoshops ever made that the media claim whoever doubt that is crazy.

reply

Fine. But the episode was a pure filler.
