Why Ruffalo?

I was a Marvel fan all my life. Why has the MCU committed to Mark Ruffalo, one of the worst actors and uninformed activists ever?

reply

RUFFALO IS EXCELLENT AS BANNER...I WAS LESS THAN THRILLED MYSELF WHEN I HEARD HE WAS TAKING THE ROLE AND NOT NORTON...HOWEVER...RUFFALO IS A VERY TALENTED ACTOR AND HE HAS MADE BANNER HIS OWN...GOOD WORK ,MARK. NOEMOJI

Lol, they’re definitely gonna “depart” with a respected (not by certain detractors online) actor who’s been with them for a decade to simply appease those like you. Nah.

But gee…. this kinda stuff is only what a bunch of “disapproving” bros have been saying about a number of Marvel actors (Marvel and reactionary-triggering Hollywood in general) in recent years. Why him? Why she? Why keep doing things that inconveniences us tRuE FaNs who hate many things?
Po’ things.

But why Ruffalo, aye? Because despite the way you feel about him, he’s great. Aww hell nawww?! Well thankfully, you belong to a hating minority. Sure in these reich pill broflake boards you’re in good company (so informed and “awakened” y’all are, we know), but generally speaking, many aren’t on your side. So yes, this chud-hated actor is a great talent and, like many in the industry today, he triggers the people he should. Marvel fan all your life? Well if one individual (plus others like him and certain decisions Marvel makes) will make you quit, then… bye. Keep doing your thing, Marvel!

Pretty much every actor/actress Disney hires is an unhinged activist. I doubt it's a coincidence.

I've observed that Mark Ruffalo started out as a decent Bruce Banner and Hulk, but over time I don't think he fit the role. I miss Edward Norton playing as him.

Morton mops the floor with Ruffalo.

I think they wanted an actor who was as un-Hulky as they could get. Someone who isn't a big man, who has a mellow temperament, who has a sense of humor, someone audiences already like. Also someone who would fit into an ensemble cast without grabbing the spotlight, and someone who wouldn't do what was expected with the role. Every other actor who's ever played the role has played Banner as seething with barely suppressed anger, and well... people who are seething with barely suppressed anger are no fun to watch!

And that's why I like Banner's Hulk. The world is full of stereotypical Angry White Men, they're all assholes, and I don't want to pay to see more assholes in my spare time unless they're the villains and due for a slapdown in the finale. I see superhero movies for fun, and he's actually a fun Hulk!

Why Ruffalo?

Because he's a far leftist. Hollywood is a big, politically driven club. The same reason why they casted a black woman as Valkyrie, who was originally a white woman with blue eyes based on Norse mythology. Any time you have to ask why Hollywood did a thing, it was to push a political agenda.

I actually thought Edward Norton was the better Bruce Banner/HULK
