Gus' team was awful and stupid.

They are supposed to be the best killers and they failed to Kill Lalo by giving themselves away with an bad shot while they still had the element of surprise.

This is one of the worst action scene since the Twins "terminatored" a place full of armed men 2 or 3 seasons ago .

I agree very sloppy of them. But then again as we know from the Season 4 finale Lalo is some kind of ninja who is a master of stealth.

reply

I was kinda hoping it was someone else's team, like Bolsa's.

Yeah this really bugged me. I have very mixed feelings about the finale (leaning negative) which I think was the worst of the series mainly due to the lack of resolution.

I can't believe someone as machivellian, intelligent & calculating as Gus has shown himself to be would authorize such an amateur hour assassination attempt, blowing the cover of his mole by deciding on the fly to have Nacho participate (against very common sense advice to do otherwise as its face it greatly & needlessly puts Lalo in harms way & jeopardizes his usefulnes as a mole) when Nacho wasn't even supposed to be there rather than waiting until he was back in Albuquerque. The writers are really going to have to come up with some convoluted asspulls to explain how Gus gets away with this massive, uncharacteristic f*ck up without it completely blowing up in his face, somehow with the cartell and Lalo's cousins never finding out about this.

That's the finale. No significant resolutions story wise or character wise & smart characters making uncharacteristically stupid decisions.

Yeah, so, so dumb. It was completely unnecessary to involve Nacho. Not to mention a huge risk with the whole plan hinging on him needing him to open gate for them. It was a huge compound. They could have easily jumped the wall with a ladder at pretty much any point. Shit, they were there, on the other side of the wall. They must have heard the conversation. They could have popped up and shot Lalo in the back of the head without even needing to set foot inside the compound...

reply

I winced. Also, since that place was out in the middle of nowhere, and they didn't have a problem taking care of the other occupants (messed up as it is), they could've went in with explosives like grenade launchers. I don't think anyone would care how messy it got as long as the job was done.

Also, couldn't they wear more armor and better protective helmets to at least give them more of a defensive chance in case things go wrong? They had how many men? It's really embarrassing how every single one died.

reply

i kept expecting gus to turn up with his henchmen and kill lalo personally, just as lalo was leaving the compound thinking he had escaped.

reply

Not as bad as the crew sent out to steal the bail money. Tell me that one of them wouldn't have just grabbed Saul and taken him hostage with a gun to his head, to stop Mike from shooting. Saul was unarmed.

reply

That only works if you know for sure the other guy cares about the hostage. These cartel guys probably thought Lalo's men were attacking them, so the gringo's life didn't matter at all.

reply

Good point!

reply

Hyper-efficient kill squads that never make mistakes are a myth. Lalo fortunately had a human shield handy, and his compound was prepared with an escape tunnel. You think he rose that high in the cartel by being careless? Ask any military officer -- battle plans are great, right up until the first shot is fired. Then you need to start adapting.

reply

They didn't even try with the first shot.
