James Gray is an awesome writer/director

Darren Aronofsky is a super pretentious weirdo. Most of his movies have been edgy for the sake of edginess.

But Gray is a solid director who has been flying under the radar for most of his career. The Yards, We Own The Night, Two Lovers...he's directed Joaquin Phoenix in some great performances. He writes "human" characters, not just cardboard cutouts. And he's good at building tension. The scene in We Own The Night where Phoenix's character is wearing a wire in the trap house is awesome. I've read his screenplays too. He is a good writer. His intelligence shines through in the scripts

It's strange seeing him do a big sci-fi film, since most of his movies have been so grounded, but it's about time that he gets a shot at the big leagues

Actually, as much as I like Nolan's moves, Interstellar kind of sucked. Long, boring, pretentious. Ridiculous ending. Ad Astra could be better

I really liked "The Fountaib"!

Yes, somebody did.

The Fountain in space? That sounds fucking awesome.

Does Nolan have cinematography in his films?

Never noticed that.

It's often behind the actors

Still not seeing it.

Not Nolan? Thank god, because that would ruin this.

Fountain, on the other hand, is as Nolanesque as it gets.
