only season 1 is brilliant

season 2 and 3 are boring and uninteresting as hell.
i dont get it!why do i feel this way, while others say 2 and 3 are also brilliant?

reply

Season 1 was brilliant/great.
Season 2 was decent, but it didn't have what Season 1 had IMO.
Season 3 has been interesting and hasn't disappointed me yet. By episode 5 is when I will be able to decide if its "brilliant" or not. It's too early at this point.

reply

I agree that 1 is better than 2, although I still enjoyed 2. Season 3 is shaping up to be really good. I like it better than 2 so far.

reply

I think Season 1 is more like Breaking Bad and Season 2 and 3 (so far) are more like Better Call Saul.

Meaning season 1 was more action packed and exciting. Season 2 and 3 were more humorous and character driven. However, season 2 and 3 feel more like the original Fargo. I think all three are great but as someone who was a huge fan of the original Fargo... I like the last two seasons better.

reply

season 1 is as character driven as 2 and 3, but the difference for me is that in season 2 i dont care for the characters and their boring dialoques.

and i think BB and BCS are both brilliant;)

reply

Well Breaking Bad is also character driven, it didn't mean to imply that it wasn't... but many dislike Saul because it's not as action packed as BB. But the original Fargo didn't have a dynamic, exciting villain like Billy Bob... it had that lowkey pair of Peter Stormare and Steve Buscemi who were funny but didn't get crazy until the very end. Are you a fan of the original Fargo? I think that might play a part on how you view the two completed seasons.

reply

i usually prefer character driven shows or movies, and BB was a nice exiting mix of character development and action.
i think the fargo movie is also brilliant.
so i think maybe its because of those brilliant actors like billy bob and steve buscemi and that the stories of the movie and s1 appeal to me more.
and perhaps because they were a bit more mysterious?i think that plays a part also.

reply

I'm thinking it's time for me to rewatch those seasons. I remember really enjoying season 1... but thinking... this is really good but it doesn't feel like Fargo. Then when I saw season 2 it just had the comic tone and feel of the original. But yeah, Billy Bob and Martin Freeman are a hard act to follow so maybe it's the actors for you.

wrong, wrong, wrongly-wrong!!!

Got to say I have the exact same feeling Penny. Season one was just great! Then came a season two which was quite bad with cartoonish mostly uninteresting characters and a story that just go to far into the implausible. And everywhere I looked people where hailing it as even better than the first season!

Now, after seeing the third episode of this season where our female protagonist goes on a totally pointless trip to LA, with a totally pointless animated story and scenes from what happened to her step-dad in between, that doesn't do anything to further the again absurdly implausible story this season, people are hailing it here as some sort of masterpiece?!?

I don't get it.

reply

I feel that way, too. Season 2 was very very good, though. But you just can't touch Billy Bob. Season 3 isn't bad - just a snooze-fest. Something about Ewan isn't sitting right with me. If they cast him as a Scottish guy living in Fargo that'd've been pretty interesting (And no accent struggles). But we're too many eps. into S3 now to salvage it.

reply

Yeah, season 1 is the best. The story was just more interesting with great characters. The other seasons rely too much on coincidence and the characters are unrealistic and just plain stupid.

I don't know. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. The movie and all three seasons are brilliant imho.
I just hope we get a season five.
