will suffer Prometheus syndrome

whatever they do it'll disappoint :(

(also see the PT)

reply

correct .
star wars nerds are never happy

will never be happy until a film is released that captures the feeling of amazment and joy they got watching their first star wars film aged 5 . which is a tall order .

reply

Not exactly true, but they are a picky bunch. Of the more recent movies, most SW fans liked The Mandalorian, Rogue One and Andor, but of course there are always a segment that will hate everything. I only the episodes 4 and 5 are really good movies in the first trilogy. Jedi was shit, and the series went downhill after that and stayed there.

reply

Neither of you are wrong.

reply

I'm thinking they'll have a story about a force sensitive child who will be the first of its kind and hunted down by evil people kind of like the Willow movie.

reply

Another Lucasfilm production incidentally.

Prometheus had a goof that shows it was not that much handled with love and care. At one point a character implies that they are in a different galaxy and literally says that they have travelled 80 billion miles. Which is the distance between Earth and Jupiter. The rest, as they say, is cheap science fiction.

reply

Unless there has been some great cosmic upheaval recently that I'm unaware of, Jupiter is only around 600 million miles away from Earth at it furthest.

reply

Okay cool.

And remember - Only you can prevent forest fires.

In the city or in the woods, please keep America looking good. Hoot! Hoot! And help take a bite out of crime.

reply

518.54 million miles to be exact!

reply

Prometheus disappointed because the movie was a giant turd, but that was never an inevitability. The characters were idiots, the plot was flimsy, and the dialog was just bad. No movie can be good under those circumstances

reply

Considering that Indiana Jones 5 was a box office flop, I'd be surprised if this still gets made.

reply

good point. Mangold = box office poison atm
