this was interesting

for sure kai has had a scrambled brain since childhood. bad parenting and worse. made worse by his addiction gene- its obvious the way he chugs alcohol, weed, and cigarettes.

he says he drugged (laced joint) jett simmons. that might be the full cause of his crazy episode that ultimately got him "smashed". i'd be curious to see if he had a criminal record before that.

the real question is: was he raped by galfy, the man he killed?
i lean toward yes.
and i dont doubt kais other sexual abuse stories
he may not be guilty of murder (outside the legal ruling) but i do think kai is a dangerous person who perhaps could have been helped by doctors. substance abuse and mood swings... an explosive combo

I don't even remember this case. Thanks, Netflix.

reply

he came to clark, nj. do you think he could have stopped the westfield watcher with his hatchet if he had a chance? it was around the same time.

reply

Ya I believe he got raped by the old dude as well. Didn't deserve to die tho. I think Kai should be classified as insane. Like the guy he axed-ended up a short stint in mental rehab.

As someone who knows young runaways around Hollywood, I can attest to the fact that they are preyed upon for sex. But normally it is consentual. They know what they are going to a house for.

Some "straight" guys will let a man molest them or perform oral sex on in exchange for weed and a place to crash.

They're mostly drug addicts with a reduced moral compass.

reply

I probably would have believed his story about the old man but he went back again after allegedly been molested, then he threw in the Pedo Vigilante stuff so he doesn't sound legit

reply

No, he doesn't sound legit to me.

He probably went back because he felt like killing him for fun.

Sometimes these street kids are very dangerous people.

I was friends with a runaway who used to hang around a Macdonalds. He was only 17, tall guy, long hair. He was funny. I'd have a smoke and chat to him but I knew never to get too friendly. He once asked if he could crash at mine as he was sleeping in stair wells. I said no.

I feared he would turn up with a bunch of other street kids and take over my house!

He told me about what they get up to. Drugs. Sex with strangers who pick them up. Robbing people. Bag snatching.

They're not good people, even if they are charming as well.

He disappeared and I asked someone where he was and apparently he got arrested for shop lifting and was locked away. That tells me he had other crimes to answer for.

reply

WHY ARE YOU HANGING OUT WITH RUNAWAY CHILDREN ANYWAY?

reply

I imagine once they're put in a situation out of desperation and cross that line once, whilst most people would be ashamed these other fellas go past the point of no return.

It's all very similar to Aileen Wournos but i actually did have sympathy for her but then again the film did frame her that way who knows what the truth was.

It's a shame because i often think about asking a random homeless if they want to come for something to eat or something but a lot are just on another level or far too disturbed in some way so it's easier to avoid them but thats a shame really

reply

Once they invited me to a party, I said "what do you do? He replied "drugs".

I don’t think he was raped. I think he consented to whatever the old man wanted to do then had a sudden dose of regret combined with shame and decided to act. He probably confronted the old man in a hostile manner and the old man said something he didn’t like, something like, “get the fuck out of my house” and Caleb snapped.
Caleb is not a little guy, and he looks to be in great shape. No way the old man raped him. Yes it’s possible he was dosed but even then I doubt the old man did anything that Caleb didn’t agree to and/or expect to happen, as in maybe he allowed himself to be drugged to take the edge off something he was initially okay with.
I wouldn’t doubt if Caleb has been sexually abused to include being raped in the past, but I also wouldn’t doubt if Caleb tricked as well.
I feel for Caleb but I’m leaning towards cold blooded murder with shame and guilt as the motive.
