Go on Sean Haha i caught that. Picturing De Vito with those four steps hanging over the balcony trying to reach their fingertips, most likely he would have ended up on there with them The part that always gets me is when the sun is going down and Out of time plays, or it might be California Dream maybe both need to watch it again. It's in one part totally totally Romantic in the shots of the City the style and laid back attitude of Pitt but at same time like the sun is literally going down from that way of life. The Hippy carefree attitude soon to be replaced by a depressed angry one No i haven't seen fury War films are my least favourite genre a lot of it is history rewriting propaganda and they are slow and miserable but i did hear it was good. He is great in certain films but when tries to to serious philosophical super deep stuff like Babel and tree of life i think he's wasted He should be like a Steve Mcqueen The Tv going on could be a hallucination given i don't see how the house would even have electric given it's derelict but the boy is real and the police are around town searching for him. Otherwise it's one of those entire film exists within one mans daydream/psyche and i don't think thats what they were doing. He is going to do something awful to the boy but he doesn't really want to he's fucked up because of what happened to him, and what we are seeing him is confronting his demons and eventually overcoming them at least long enough to let the boy go It's an idealized Romantic snap shot of Hollywood and the world when it was arguably at it's peak late 60's before it all fell to shit It's not really about plot but if you really want one then it's Daltons redemption. The film shows how Hollywood disgard of their unwanted Actors and when we meet Dalton he is going through the process. Rather than simply boot out the people they don't want they put them through a degrading drawn out affair where they use the star power to bring on a new studio up and comer similar to WWE So Dalton has this realisation and after encountering the young girl decides to go down fighting. Leading to him having to really act rather than stand around pretty dressed as a cowboy like he was used to. All of this is fantastically played by Di Caprio in his best ever role IMO. Then you have Brad Pitt, for as good looking as he is and famous i find his films and his acting rather boring. QT knows exactly how to use him, get your shirt off get those shades on and just look super cools stop pretending your an Actor. It took me 3 times to like this myself first two went over my head before it clicked. Agree the Margot Robbie scenes are shite but Di Caprio,Pitt, the chemisrty, dialog, sountrack, reacreation of that era and underlying bittersweet message really hit home for me. You aren't getting films like this again, Movie stars are going extinct proper cinema is going extinct this film feels like a goodbye He's a strange one because he kind of contradicts himself. In his film he say's he turned it all down but i have heard him on other shows say they kind of canned him. Not sure what is saving face and what's BS I didn't mind him at all though he said he cried at the end of the Book and that moment Tracy dies i think he actually acts really well. very sincere in parts Like i said it doesn't need to be a method Actor Connory was a Body Builder turned Actor and god knows what Roger Moore was lol Correct. Like he said earlier and in the aftermath - do you wanna be a good girl or a Cunt? She wasn't a Cnt really but was doomed after doing what she did, no going back ''Stephanie learned to type which was her ticket across the bridge but it only got her foot in the door. She is not college educated but tries to fake it by peppering her conversation with mispronounced big words and celebrity name drops. This impresses Tony and the disco crowd but makes her look naive and uneducated in her workplace. Good last post all these points i finally picked up on i used to see this as the John Travolta Dancy flick but there are Rocky and Midnight Cowboy themes in this film. Like even though the film ends on an optimistic note as she say's to Tony 'what are you going to do exactly when you get there? It's all well and good having aspirations and guts to leave and go to the Big City but in reality he will end up a waiter or some low level job living in a shitty apartment far away from his friends and family Her situation was so bad that she took a chance to make a better life but in the end pimped herself to get a just above entry position and something of a better life but she will never be accepted in those circles because they won't respect a gutter rat wannabe social climber in their eyes. You can take the girl out of the town. In the end she both realize where they were from is shit but also the good life is out of reach so you left with just two people surviving a little be better than before, which is a win i suppose It's a sad fact of life unfortunately well made in this film It's such a lovely scene, She is basically the same as Tony but has somewhat 'gotten out' but you learn throughout that she really just has a basic secretary job but is surrounded by big shots and meets famous people but she is still struggling and it's implied she did a Weinstein and sold her self to get ahead. But like she say's 'what the hell am i supposed to do' all these people are kind of hopeless with everything against them so she played the only hand she could and is ashamed when Tony finds out. She is a bit like Rita in Educating Rita wanting to escape her low status but we see that Rich bloke make bit of a cruel comment about the books when shes trying to impress him. She realises that no matter how hard she try she will never truly be a part of the class she aspires to but she doesn't want to be like the Tony's either even though thats what she really is Tony and her are kindred though as he may not be educated but he is somewhat intelligent and thoughtful and in the park scene her delusions are smashed and they are both so vulnerable she finally sees him as an equal rather than enjoy him looking up to her View all replies >
