Interesting.
shareAfter watching this documentary , I see Lang as Sociopath, high functioning, but still a Sociopath.
shareKnowing that he was trying to do a 3rd Woodstock should have been included. And yes, it makes him seem like a psychopath.
shareNah, I didn't see him as that way. I think the guy was trying desperately to re-create something from the past that he felt was beautiful. I saw him more as that teenager or young person we all grew up with that personality-wise always remains a teenager and never gets beyond that.
Not only that, for whatever reason, I think he consciously, or maybe even subconsciously saw the glass half full while ignoring the shit show part of these three days. There was probably also some greed involved.
But he clearly wasn't a sociopath or psychopath (and the two are different, though many use them interchangeably).
Lang had no remorse, took no responsibility, and wanted to do it again. That is anti-social disorder regardless of the specfic diagnosis. I said Sociopath, not both.
You are very generous to him.
I just think he looked at things differently - not saying that is right, because it's not and it was very disappointing and enraging how the promoters and managers, including him, allowed things to happen - but at the same time, I think he is more one of those people that see quite a bit in a different light.
But I agree with you about him showing no remorse and not taking responsibility. It was sort of like this huge disconnect as to what went on and with huge blinders on. And at the end of the day, I think he really wanted to capture what happened in '69.
"I think he really wanted to capture what happened in '69"
I thought that until the third episode.
He convinced me otherwise.
I am not saying Scher and the others were much better. Lang struck me as worse and more calculating. However, I see your point.
Besides Scher didn't want to do it again
Could you complain tje complicity a little more?
shareJust what we needed in 2019, another Woodstock cash in. People need to understand--you can't recreate something from the past. You have to keep moving forward. The first Woodstock was a one-of-a-kind event that will never be duplicated.
shareThe first Woodstock was also a clusterfuck of filth, but since everyone in the audience was stoned they actually enjoyed it, and overpraised it once it was over!
And it's been held up as some ideal ever since, but nobody's ever been able to recreate the magic, because the magic was in a crowd that was both hammered and well-behaved.
Lang made me wanna barf, talk about passing the buck. Never trust a hippy.
