Let me land the plane, I used to fly back in the 40's!

WWII was only about 19 or 20 years earlier, like 2000 or 2001 to us. It was a twin-engine prop plane of roughly that vintage, so it really wasn't any big deal.

If he was flying a plane in WW2, which US entered in 1941, so lets say he flew a few years till 1944. That would mean that at the time he wanted to take control of the plane his flying experience would be at worst 21 years old.

But did it really happen, or was it just something to make the movie more entertaining? That's my question.

Why?
