Anyone else optimistic like me?

Okay I speak as a huge fan of the Christopher Nolan Batman films. This movie is doing everything I hoped in order to restore Batman back to glory. After the terrible Batman V Superman, and Justice League I said we need to wipe the slate clean. Luckily this is happening.

Ben Affleck while not a bad Batman just had to go. The movies were so awful that attempting to do damage control would have been a waste of time. A franchise can't start off terrible and then suddenly become good.

Anyway I love Matt Reeves as a director. I adored his work on the apes films and I feel he is a perfect fit for Batman. He can do dark and brooding which is great for Batman. Plus his movies have a great visual flair another thing needed for Batman. All of the casting I think has been very inspired as well. What I honestly hope for is something in the likes of Batman the animated series and the arkham games. It looks like this is the direction Reeves is leaning.

I loved Nolan's trilogy but all good things must come to an end. I want a bit more of a fantasy removed Batman where the more supernatural things can exist. I love the choice of Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrel as Penguin, Paul Dano as Riddler, and Robert Pattinson for Batman. Honestly the whole cast looks good, shout out to Serkis and Wright.

ABSOLUTELY...THE CAST HAS STACKED UP SO PERFECTLY...THIS IS THE FIRST BATMAN FLICK IHAVE GENUINE ENTHUSIASM FOR IN A LONG TIME.

I agree dude. I am so glad they are giving Matt Reeves creative control. I just ask producers please let him have creative freedom do not meddle.

I am, I love both of the Apes movies that Reeves directed!

So am I. I personally feel War for the Planet of the Apes was one of the best third entries in a trilogy ever. After that film I remember saying man he could do a great Batman movie. The way he handled Ceasar was so well done. Low and behold I got my wish. Look at how visually striking his films are as well. The cgi to his apes films were immaculate. I can't wait to see what he has in store for his version of Gotham. I bet we are in for an immersive noir Gotham city.

Not looking promising to me.

Not really, there’s been so much crap Batman since the last decent Batman film but the director is good, I'm hoping the cast and script make it enjoyable, but I'm not over excited about superhero movies in general, Batman is the only one I like tbh.

I'm glad they went with classic villains this time.

I definitely am. I think there’s every reason to be optimistic! Although I’m loving the cast, Matt Reeves is the main reason why I believe this might deliver. No one can say for sure that this will be good, but to my mind things are so far looking very promising for this film (as long as the production runs smoothly, I have no reason not to be optimistic).

And btw, I didn’t care for the DCEU’s Batman myself, so I absolutely hope that this Batman (I’m pleased with Pattinson’s casting) will shine on the big screen like he deserves to. I’m excited.

Yep the director is the main selling point for me. A cast can be stacked but if the director is lackluster a great cast won't make a bit of difference. I didn't like DCEU's Batman either. I hated both bvs and justice league with a passion.

Looks like Reeves also has plenty of time to get it right. So the issue of a rushed production shouldn't be an issue.

Me.

It's eight years and nine years next year since we had a solo Batman film.

The only two Batman films that I would call great are Batman (1989) and Batman Begins (2005). All of the other films have some seriously glaring flaws that I just can't ignore. I hope for another good experience with this new one, but my actual expectations are are low.
