Anyone else optimistic like me? Better than it had any right to be. Looks fantastic! My favorites of 2017 Audience reaction is interesting. View all posts >

Agreed. I enjoy both films, if I had to pick I would go with No Country For Old Men. Hell or High Water is a solid flick though. Anton is a lot more subtle than the Joker is. There is no crazy laugh, no crazy getup. He is an insane calculated psychopath. What makes him so good is how callous he is. I love both villains but last thing I would call Anton is over the top. Ah well she has talent. I think she will be a great catwoman. She was in X-men First Class, Dope, Mad Max Fury Road as well as Big Little Lies. I honestly think in the case of Spider-man they change things for the sake of change. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Most people aren't that attracted to black girls, even black guys. You rarely see a white guy, black girl, combo in real life. Ironically, my uncle married a black woman when I was a kid, and they got along great, so it does happen. But, not too often.
Sorry but I could not disagree more with this. Zoe Kravitz is stunning, talented actress and is athletic. Race is not essential to Catwoman's character. Her being beautiful, emotionally engaging, as well as athletic is what the role requires. Zoe fits all of these. See this is a critique I guess I just do not understand. I get not enjoying him but the thing is your dislike is rooted in you not getting what you wanted. To me it translates to okay if it does not follow the original source it is by default bad. In all honesty there are only a a few comic book films that follow the source very closely. Sin City was one of the few comic book films that put the comic book on the screen. Thing is this rarely ever happens. What you are saying does sound like it has a lot of potential. I knew Joker was based off of the man who laughs. Thing is I do not think that because this is not followed that it by default makes it bad. You hate Ledger's Joker? I am curious why?
I am surprised too that NO Country gets so much recognition; it is a fine enough movie sure. But it is over the top, at parts directionless, doesn't have great flow and has several very pointless 'sub plots' that go nowhere. Also Anton being considered such an "iconic" movie villain I think is almost outrageous. He is so over the top there is zero believability to him and it is almost comical.
Maybe you could elaborate further on this? How is being over the top bad for a movie villain? Heath's Joker from 2008 is over the top but is also like Anton considered one of cinema's greatest villains. To me those two actually have a lot in common. Both are agents of chaos, they are also both an example of the negative flat character arc. It is interesting to me how the supporting Oscar win went to villains three consecutive years. 2007 was Javier Bardem for Anton, in 2008 it was for Heath Ledger's Joker and in 2009 Christoph Waltz for Hans Landa. Here in my book are two good analysis of No Country For Old Men. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KADoPXknQCI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9SF4mXi49o I honestly have never been a big Ben Affleck fan. I do not hate him or anything I just never felt he was a great actor. Now like I said a lot of the failings of Batman V Superman and Justice League's failing can't be placed on him. In his defense the script and direction for those films is atrocious. It wouldn't have mattered who you got to play Batman in those films, those films still would have been awful. I hate reboots as much as the next guy, however in this case it had to be done. You can not build off of a bad foundation. BVS and Justice League were awful foundations. I personally am optimistic about this movie. I love Matt Reeves as a director. View all replies >
