Worldwide: $1,323,984,109

The heck? Just a couple of days ago when I checked it was at $787 million. Guess not everything was accounted for cause that's a big fucking jump. Whelp blew past my $868 prediction at least. So this is definitely hitting past 1 billion for sure.

Final predicted earnings to be around $1.25-1.3 billion

Domestic: $681,084,109

Basically it's just another sign of the humanity's loss of intelligence. The success of the avengers was one of the first signs.

reply

Butthurt? Preparation H is your friend..

reply

Heh, sure. And posting bitter comments about someone else's success is a sign of great intelligence.

reply

And there it is. The over billion mark. Congrats to BP. What are your final possible predictions on when it will stop? I'm leaning on 1.25-1.30 billion.

reply

It appears that no prediction is safe from this Box office Onslaught by BP but I can't see where all these ticket buyers are coming from domestically??

$650 Million International and then perhaps $700 Million domestic? I'd say BP hits $1.3 Billion before it stalls. I'm just not seeing BP over performing in International locations and $650 Million sounds a bit high at the moment with no more territories being added.

reply

We'll never really know where it's coming from. But the interesting tidbit that I found out is that individual films and theaters can launch fake screenings and box-office inflating to show success. Ghost-screening if you will.

reply

That is something that would not happen in the USA because money has to be actually collected. There is no incentive for a theater to attempt that type of fraud here.

Do I believe that domestic boxoffices are 100% accurate? Nope. Lots of people buy tickets for one movie and instead go see another and or multiple films on one ticket purchase. Ticket theft is there but it is not that rampant. Ticket receipts inflated? Uhnnnnnn, no!

China and India are both obsessed with records so in China box office inflation is a way to drive market share for Pro-China. But what happens to the company's valuation? Eventually that house of cards collapses as it is unsustainable. Let's say that a movie chain in China inflated BP's ticket sales, they'd still have to give whatever that percentage of the revenue to Disney. That means they're just giving Disney a much higher percentage of their overall gross than was actually collected. What would they have to gain by that? Disney wouldn't care.

Good job in keeping the thread title up to date with the current Box Office tally.

The way this movie is going, it's easily going to clear a pillion dollars!

$1.1 billion atm with a predicted possible 1.15x by the end of the 4th week.

Captain America 3
$1,153,304,495
Avengers: Age of Ultron
$1,405,403,694
The Avengers
$1,518,812,988

Wonder if it'll be on par with the Avengers series...

reply

It's gonna go past 1.2 today. It's at 1.197 Ww and 610 dom by Tuesday's BO. It will pass Avengers this weekend, become fifth all time dom and it will slowly climb the international all time BO, but how high?

reply

It'll be hilarious if people just didn't have enough of the diverse cash to spend it on Infinity War after splurging on BP multiple runs. XD

reply

Highest Grossing Superhero Film of All-Time in US

Domestic: $643,503,634

So it has beaten The Avengers.

Will Black Panther get a holiday bump (Good Friday and Easter) regardless of BP NOT being a Western oriented faith based movie? Will the 3 day holiday see less than a 30% drop in the USA?

I'm not to sure if it will or not but you can somewhat gauge and get an idea of what the numbers will be based on the daily earnings. It's dropped more than half by now. Only pulling in about $2 million a day during the weekdays (bit more on Fridays) and the most pulls coming in from weekend viewings. I'm guessing 7th week may be its final pull. Don't forget that Infinity War is only a month away as well.

That said, I think the Good Friday/Easter holidays will pull in as much as the weekend viewings if not less.

reply

Wow, only seven movies in the history of mankind had managed the over 600 million in domestic box office...

reply

There will be more as the population grows and people going to the movies. Will be 8 once Infinity War hits.

reply

That will be three MCU movies. How many DCEU movies in that group?

reply

Err... none? What does this have to do with DCEU?

reply

The question was asked if BP would have a slight bump due to the three day holiday period even though BP is not a religious movie by any stretch of the imagination for Western cultures. For Friday BP had a better total than PRU by a wide margin and RPO did quite well. No school for some places along with Spring Break means larger crowds for theaters.

The Domestic gross for BP has been steady while the international returns have been pretty much not special but definitely solid. The final ratio of Domestic to International may very well be 52%/48% with of course both being in the +$600 Million range and maybe BP reaching as high as $675 Million which would place BP as 3rd all time (not counting inflation which some love to trot out to put current films in their place).

If BP reaches $1.3 billion that would be stunning!

Actuals up adjusted to 1,275,037,684 - domestic 650,923,549. Obviously it will pass both Frozen Ww and JW Domestic maybe tomorrow! 659,363,944/Titanic is within BP's grasp.
Update: It did, it has passed them both, next stop Titanic. It seems inevitable now, it will end up as third.

reply

Top 3 in domestic earnings

Has passed Titanic, Jurassic World, and Avengers.

Think this is more or less near the stopping point as Infinity War is just around the corner with 2 weeks left to go.
