He's BLACK, and he's called BLACK Panther

I mean, why emphasise the BLACK? Was it a warning of some kind to the mostly white Marvel comicbook readers?

reply

Pink Panther was taken.

reply

Why describe the colour at ALL?

reply

I wouldn’t read too much into it, just Panther or The Panther isn't as cool sounding.

Scarlet Witch, Green Lantern and Red Skull all sound better with a color added to their name just like Black Panther, whereas some like Black Widow and Black Cat have a deeper meaning.

Stan Lee or Jack Kirby probably thought Black Panther sounded cool and left it like that, just like the random color they gave Hulk after his original color of grey was dropped. When you think about it red would of better suited Hulk as red is the color of rage, but they didn’t give it much thought.

reply

I'd go for Chocolate Tiger!

reply

Because it's the name of the ****ing character from the marvel universe, you PC moron!

reply

They probably should have gone with African American Panther, but they're just racist, rich old white slave owners who don't think about stuff like that.

reply

Since when is he American?

reply

He became American when people stopped being able to recognize obvious satire

reply

What do you mean?.It's completely normal.Haven't you ever seen an episode of Caucasian arrow or White flash.I can't wait for the White flash and Black lightning crossover.Somebody cue Ebony and ivory.

reply

Arrow is white? I thought dude was green.

Dang, now I need to check the ethnicity of all the lanterns.

reply

We don't see a problem.

Signed,

Black Manta
Black Lightning
Black Vulcan
