I didn’t have a prediction for this movie, but I’m genuinely surprised that it has done as well as it has.

I’m a kid of the 80s, and have seen a ton of material lately that pulls at those heartstrings and nostalgia, and really didn’t think that Top Gun had that kind of pull. Now, I “liked” Top Gun, but I didn’t “love” it in the same way that I loved a bunch of other 80s flicks that I grew up on.

I haven’t seen it yet, but everyone that I bump into (old and young) can’t talk enough about how fantastic it is. Apparently, it’s a really good movie, which I wasn’t counting on. I guess I’m going to have to check it out when I have the time.

Its a really good movie, so I think you will like it. It would prob be better to see it in the theater to get the full effect as the sound effects are spectacular. It does have forced diversity but that is expected these days. Its a nice movie with soul and it wraps up a few loose ends.

This is an odd case where I’m getting forced into seeing a flick that I really wasn’t planning on seeing, but the word of mouth has simply been exceptional in a way that I haven’t experienced in a while.

I’ll check it out on a day off. It’s hard to say no when the word of mouth has been so overwhelmingly positive.

did you see it yet?

I really liked it. But I also am the kind of dude who regards the original film as a stone cold classic.

I second JoWilli's statement that you should not just see it, but see it in the theater. I saw it in IMAX and that was an amazing experience.

If this was released in China we would see 1.8 Billion in its theatrical run!

reply

Why hasn't it released in China?

reply

The Chinese did not want to showcase the great American military! It was deemed propaganda, it was deemed dangerous, it was considered an act for aggression against China. They banned it! It might however be release on DVD later.

I thought it was released in China? odd
