Budget: $157.8 million

I don't know boys but I don't think this is going to make $400 million to enter the green.

Mark this down as another box office bomb for the summer of 2023.

Releasing 28th July.

reply

What? Jesus Christ. The Eddie Murphy movie probably cost half that amount.

HelloSidney I think you are right. Can you imagine a studio sinking into the abyss any more spectacularly than Disney in 2023? It's a scary sight(no pun intended).

reply

Blumhouse probably could had filmed the same movie for under $20M or even $15M. These budgets are just getting out of hand. It's absurd.

reply

Part of the reason Disney is in deep doo doo now and Comcast/Universal is flying high.

reply

If disney are in deep doo doo so are universal, half there releases , 13 so far have flopped, the hatred you have for disney deludes you, lets not talk WB and the horrendous year they have had lol.

reply

Yup...doing even WORSE than the already-low projections. Opening to just 25 million.

I'm a girl, but I agree, although on the off chance it premiers during school holidays, there's maybe a possibility it'll make some money back based on the kids having nothing else to see after watching Barbie a few times.

reply

Too thematically frightening for little kids, too fake and CGI for adults, and that just leaves some teenagers who i'm not even sure would like it. Seems like they really zeroed in on a very narrow audience for this.

If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve -https://youtu.be/dOf_o3yNTI4

With Indiana Jones 5 flopping also, I believe people are boycotting Disney.

reply

This. It would be really interesting to see how Disney movies are doing in red states versus blue states.
