Ana De Armas' performance is what truly matters here

And she delivers a fine performance for sure. Everything else about the movie is not that important honestly. She will absolutely get that Oscar nom.

reply

She will get it and win it.

reply

You think she'll win? Who do you think she will be competing against?

reply

There’s no one who can touch her. Her bravery in taking this role with all this adverse publicity and her studying the way MM talked for over a year - and delivering this spectacular performance - but there is Cate Blanchett in TAR who might give her a run for her money. I am not sure of who else. For me, she gave one of the best performances I have ever seen.

reply

Yes, Blanchet probably has it in the bag honestly, there is also:

- Viola Davis (Woman King)
- Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once)
- Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans)
- Margot Robbie (Babylon)

Among others. Heavy competition for Armas.

reply

Yes. Yes. That’s what I was looking for. A list of other actresses. It would also have been better for her if this movie had been better received and understood because this movie is really brilliant. But for me, Ana should get it because there’s no one in the past, present or future that could ever come as close to creating MM as she has. People forget that MM was born just a few weeks after Queen Elizabeth in 1926. Almost a hundred years ago. She lived in another time and I truly believe, like Brigitte Bardot, she wouldn’t understand me2 or even like it.

Essentially, if you like to see Ana’s boobs,
It is a very good film.
Yet, overall,
A weak effort.

More like Razzie, twice for this and Deep Water. I can smell that. I loved the movie and I thought she did an excellent job, but the critics hated it and the Razzies will probably trow this movie many nominations, as well as Deep Water.

I remember I rooted for Jennifer Lawrnece to get an Oscar nom for mother!, but she got a Razzie nom instead, which is ridiculous. I guess I might be wrong (I really hope), but we'll see.

There seemed to be strange shapes or discolorations above her eyebrows. Not sure what was going on there, but it was very distracting.

reply

She did alright. Cried a lot. Her head is too dainty and chin too distinct for MM but whatever. She looked most like her when the light is so bright that all you can see is the makeup.

The only part that I truly enjoyed in the film is when she and Adrian Brody have their first dialogue. They both did such an amazing job right then. Great scene. I thought the movie might be taking a turn for the better.

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. For 3 hours long, I was never bored or tired at all. And Ana gave a knockout performance. Just fantastic!

reply

I haven't heard anything about them. It jsut seems to have dropped off the radar.

reply

No she won’t.
