It just doesn't look real...

It looks super detailed but it just doesn't look tangible, like something you can touch and it would have texture. It has this video game look to it. Might be an issue with the art direction but there's something amiss. The movie will be a super success though because the Marvel movies have shit CGI too.

ah that's what I felt too. I'd just chalked up my reaction to oh, maybe I've just romanticized the original film's cgi in my mind.

reply

Yes, looks so artificial.

All that hype of 10 years into making turns out to mediocrity.

reply

I don't understand it though, Cameron used to be all about making CGI as seamless as possible. Terminator 2 was incredible for its time and still looks great. Titanic still holds up too. Not sure whether Cameron lose his eyesight or something but something about Avatar CGI just looks so artificial.

reply

You're not wrong. The CGI here looks awful. However, they will be tweaking it until the movie is released so it may improve.

That said, the whole trailer on the whole is pretty underwhelming. If it underperforms Cameron's rep will take a hit after his involvement and promotion of the badly received Dark Fate.

reply

It probably has something to do with the over abundance of blues we have seen in the trailer.

reply

I saw the trailer on line and you're right - it didn't look great. But I sat the same trailer in the cinema today and it looked pretty good. So hopefully it will look OK when it gets here - eventually. I must admit I'm not impressed they are trailing it so far in advance - they did the same with Alita and that was a bit of a disappointment.

reply

agree, the CGI is terrible, it needs more practical effects. I plan to walk out if it is really bad.

reply

Marvel movies have the best CGI I've ever seen. What are taking about?

reply

Then you must be blind. Marvel movies have typical floaty, cartoonish CGI. Almost nothing looks real or moves with proper weight. Every CGI character has that typical floaty video game movement.

reply

What's a modern movie with excellent CGI then?
