Did James Cameron not expect the MCU to take off or something?

I mean, you can't take a decade off between sequels anymore.

You only see those big fans of MCU but I'm NOT one of them and I'm freaking sure I'm not alone in this so stop predicting that those sequels won't be successful I've also seen that money earned from Avatar are very close to money earned from Endgame movie soo don't be too sure that some movie whether it's avatar or something different won't make the same success. Edit:I loved the first spiderman trilogy and X-men soo I'm not one of those who are totally new to comics it's just that I don't really have that urge to watch everything about comics but Avatar will stay close to my heart and I can wait for sequels while most of very young audiences are so impatient these days.

I dont see how Marvrl's success will keep "A2" from being a hit.

No, what might keep it from being a hit is that is isn't that good a movie, or nobody remembers "Avatar" fondly enough to want a sequel. Neither is anything to do with Marvel.

I think most of the attention was due to the imagery. At the time of its making it was using some pretty fancy new tech, just like the Matrix did to bring CGI to the fold. Now that CGI is more common now, I think it'll follow the path similar to the Matrix sequels. Besides, James Cameron has lost his prime more or less. I mean most of his movies he produced after Avatar have been mediocre at best, even the Terminator Dark Fate was compared to be just better than Genisys more or less.

All the more encouraging.

His films might make more money than MCU films - primarily because the market now is bigger than it used to be. This is why you keep seeing new records being broken - Chinese market is huge now - and India is growing as well.
11 years ago - overseas market wasn't as prominant as it is now.

Anyways, if he does the 3D right - he might come out all right. I do worry about the script though..... there aren't many good script writers out there anymore, or so it seems - and Cameron isn't much better than Lucas - and we all know what happened to SW prequels.

The way I see it, the older these film makers become, the crappier are their films - and Cameron is getting pretty darn old. Peeps might show up for A2, but if I'm right about the old age=crappy films and it turns out to be crap, A3 and A4 will be financial bombs.

you are correct, STAR WARS flopped badly after 16 and 10 year breaks

I don't he planned on making a sequel. The cost of the original film at the time made it prohibitive. Even he admitted that he got lucky they made their money back. Now that it's more reasonable he can try.

I'm not interested but betting against him is often a losing proposition.
