There's always Toy Story 5. That will probably make some dough.

reply

Nah they already forced it hard enough with 4. No one is going to watch 5

I think the marketing is okay for it, granted I go to the movies every week so that might be the only reason I've seen the trailer for it so many times.

Movie doesn't look that bad, although, definitely doesn't have that same magical vibe of old Pixar.

I'll still see it. If it flops though, I think Pixar needs to take a step back and maybe take a breather for a couple years.

I think the animation looks great, and I like the concept, so I'm not sure what the OP is driving at when they say it's 'uninspired', but based on the good-but-not-great reviews, the lackluster marketing, the crowded summer schedule and the relatively poor grosses of the last few Pixar releases, I don't hold much hope for this film's chances. Still, I hope I'm wrong.

Are they purposely Doing this or do they really belive this is good looking?

So weird

YOUR COMPLAINT IS FALSE...CARE TO LIST YOUR ACTUAL REASONS FOR DISLIKING THIS CHILDREN'S FILM YOU HAVE NOT SEEN?

reply

The cover art looks horrible....the colors are unattractive...people have gut feelings and can tell this is the same formula Disney has been using.

And even in failure they keep trying which. Makes things even more sketchy

reply

LMAO...IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE AN IGNORANT ASSHOLE...YOU ARE GOING TO NEED TO TRY HARDER.😉

My nephew and I are excited for this one, so, you're not the only one standing up for this film. 👍🏼

YEAH...ALI IS ALSO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS ONE.

They're going down with their Disney overlords.

Pixar are dying a painful death. R.I.P.

I remember when I would look forward to a Pixar movie coming out. Now I rarely care.

Why Elemental Bombed At The Box Office

https://www.looper.com/1320326/why-elemental-bombed-box-office/

BY MELISSA LEMIEUX/UPDATED: JUNE 22, 2023 8:24 AM EST

Not every single film put out by Pixar draws audience plaudits. "The Good Dinosaur" disappeared without a whimper back in 2015, and "Onward" and "Lightyear" were denied much box office attention thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. "Turning Red," "Luca," and "Soul," meanwhile, were released straight to Disney+ to avoid that fate. Pixar films that count as outright financial flops, however, are few and far between. But the studio's big summer tentpole release, "Elemental," seems to have joined that small party of films.

The story — about a fire elemental named Lumen (Leah Lewis) and a water elemental named Wade (Mamoudou Athie) who fall in love in spite of all of the cultural and societal differences between them — landed with barely a splash at the summer box office on June 16.  It earned $44.5 million worldwide during its opening weekend, an anemic total that puts it below every Pixar film released up to that time except "A Bug's Life" in receipts. It's not a very promising start for the studio's latest attempt at overcoming its box office doldrums.

Why did the film fail? Can we chalk things up to a voice cast that lacks name-brand actors? A lack of promotion? A weak storyline that didn't grab viewers? Or is Pixar's magic wearing off for a generation of young viewers who have spent the past three years without the studio's magic in their lives? It turns out there are plenty of reasons why audiences may have stayed away from "Elemental" — but it remains possible that the film could recover at the box office in time.

I read an article that pinned some of the blame on their decision to release freebies and straight-to-Disney+ movies for two years after the pandemic. So their customers got used to watching at home and are now less willing to go back to the theater, at least for animated movies.
