Couldn't she just...

Go to the old house and kill herself alone? Wouldn't that end the entities ability to move on?

reply

yeah, i thought this was going to be how the movie ends, she kills herself without a witness, thus breaking the curse.

reply

Yeah. I too thought it was going to be a bitter sweet ending.

reply

Who wants to kill themselves? 99% of people aren't altruistic enough to think of the greater good and be willing to off ourselves. We'd all be more focused on discovering a way to beat this thing and keep on living.

reply

Yes but she was. At least for the purpose.of the movie. She went to the remote cabin alone I believe to end her life. Just don't know why it took her so long to do. Just do it while hole alone in the bathroom. Movie over.

reply

But if the choices are a) kill yourself and b) kill yourself and kill others, most people will choose a.

reply

True, but you're forgetting option C, which is hope like hell you miraculously figure out a way to beat this thing without dying. Unless this thing is directly threatening their child, almost everyone is rushing to option C before killing themselves. You're giving people far too much credit if you think they would bravely face death if there was even the slightest chance they can wriggle out of it. Collateral damage be damned.

reply

In that case just go through with the murder plan.

reply

That was part of her plan, sorta. She certainly was hoping to fight it, but that's the reason why she isolated herself, was so that there would be no witness.

reply

Yeah, what? That's exactly what she did.

reply

Or just go to a place other than the old house, you know, like into the actual woods?
