The show has gotten better

I see nothing but people still shitting on this, and i don't get it, its improved alot since Rick left. That mid season finale was awesome, that graveyard scene was some scary shit and was tense as hell and it had a great surprising death no one saw coming.

The mid season premiere was great as well, loved the stuff with Negan, and The Whisperers are amazing villains, they're fresh and a threat the group has never had to deal with before. I can't wait to learn more about them and see what they do next.

And Judith has been great, love that little actress, shes really impressive being so young and that good already.

I just don't think the show deserves to still be getting shit on right now, yeah it was bad for a long time but it has vastly improved since the whisperers introduction.

The first ep of this half was pretty good.

reply

Yeah it really was, i could've had an episode with just Negan wondering around and trying to survive and been satisfied, i loved that stuff. One of the whisperers getting captured who seems to be the leaders daughter was interesting, also with Negan going back willingly it just makes you excited to see where they go from here with his character.

There was a lot of good stuff in this episode, and as i said the mid season finale was also really dark and great as well, so far the show seems to be back on track, it could change but for now its been really good.

I liked the covered bridge pincer move. Imagine how scared the pretend walker was when Darrel started shooting limbs. He had no good options at that point. All he could do was stay in character.

reply

Yeah i really liked that scene too, shooting at limbs to find out what ones are real and what ones are whisperers. Yeah you have to imagine the whisperers get really nervous when they have to keep up the act while hoping they don't get an arrow or knife in the head.

reply

It was pretty dumb for the Whisperers though. It was obvious they were getting funneled into a choke point against people with superior weaponry. It could only go one way for them.

Yes, I agree that it is a much better written show this season. But we had to go through 2 of the most dismal depressing seasons to get to it...and lose nearly every main character in the process..
Characters are important in this show..as important if not more important than the writing..

For me it's too soon to tell if I think the current crop will truly be able to take the reins...or if TWD can stay on the side of the angels in their creative process in any kind of consistent way.
Time will tell but I am willing to give it a chance.

I do understand if others are fed up and past the point of tolerance for a show that went so badly off track for so long.

It's better than seasons 7 and 8 which isn't saying much cos those seasons were absolute garbage. I wish Angela Kang had been made showrunner during those seasons. We would have had a faster pace, no bottle episodes, no bad philosophical dialogues at the last minute of a characters impending death.

I think Negan as a character would have been much better with Kang shaping who he was in the show. Instead of him being ridiculous and out of place.

reply

What!? You telling me you didn't like them solo episode, especially that TARA episode? Impossible!
Remember that black guy with dreads who was with her that time and got killed offscreen? ME NEITHER!!!
Who remembers tertiary characters like that? I most certainly don't :D :D :D

reply

What? Better? :D I don't think we're watching the same show. Every lead is leaving, the story is horrible and laughable, the über-nemesis is best friend with über-girl, the stupidity never ends... Man, this shitshow just keeps floating like a turb in turdsoup.

reply

Agreed.

See i don't think theres anything the show could do to make you like it, cause its just the cool thing to shit on Walking Dead now regardless if its gotten better or not. I'am willing to admit the show has been bad over the last few seasons, All Out War was boring and dragged out far too long, there was really bad filler episodes etc.

But imo the show has gotten better, i'm willing to admit that, Rick and Michonne being gone aint gonna ruin the show, theres still plenty of characters left, i don't find Michonne that interesting or entertaining really, and Rick yeah i kinda miss him but the truth is the show has gotten better since he left for whatever reason.

And its not like i'm alone in this, nearly everyone i've watched on youtube that reviews and reacts to Walking Dead love the show right now, Filmtenk2 agreed the episode was good and liked alot of stuff in it. So its not like i'm delusional, others think its gotten better too.

But theres still people out there that continue to watch and just love to shit on it and wont admit when the shows gotten better and has introduced some great villains.

It's better than 7-8 for sure, but those seasons were so bad they made me long for season 2's dumb shit.

Problem is, those two seasons were so incredibly terrible, we and the show are still living with the consequences.
Imo, the show is struggling to move forward from it, with a lot of leading characters leaving and new ones joining in weird, disjointed ways.

Also, nu-Carl is awful.

reply

Basically I agree..with all that you've said.

I don't hate Henry...although he's a bit too saccharine and sweet.
But when he steals some of Carl's storylines I can't help wondering at the purpose of killing off Carl. Henry is not going to be the lead, not anytime soon... so why worry if Carl could be up to that job?
As far as aging Carl up....they've never had a problem with these types of time and aging inconsistencies..They could have changed his hairstyle or something as he already was the right age.
