So obviously he lives...

...he’s not burning to death in a flame retardant suit when we already know he can withstand a bunch of gunshots. And the studio will make a crapload of money off this. Please don’t soil it with a god awful “3rd installment”. I fear the next one they do can’t possibly be good considering the foundation of this one was just building on the lure of him being locked up for 40 years.

We hear Dr Loomis on the tape the journalists have, telling us the ONLY way to get rid of MM, and it's not just burning.

Michael’s ominous breathing heard in the after credits was a nice tease. A hint that Michael lives? The answer should be obvious.

That aside, I was very pleased with this new installment, but granted it’s not easy to see a third film knocking it out of the park and leaving the same impact as this one. But this, of course, can really depend on who they get to write and direct it. It’d be great if David Gordon Green and Danny McBride can return given what they delivered with this new film (McBride apparently won’t but we’ll see) . Still, since I felt that this wasn’t your average reboot and it had a bunch of great talent involved, I don’t see a third film being a simple cash grab (haters will say this one also was, but whatever makes them feel better).

I am interested to see where a third film goes. If the name Blumhouse is again attached to the next entry in the Halloween series, then that’s a good start. They tend to succeed with their films. All in all, while I can live without additional films, that ending unquestionably left me wishing for another film.

*Spoilers*

Halloween II (1981)
Halloween 4
Halloween H20
And Halloween (2018)

would have all been good ways to get rid of Michael Myers once and for all.

Correct. But as we should know by now, you just can’t keep a good lurking Shape down. :)

Although, what’s different about his fate in Halloween 2018, is it’s kinda left ambiguous whether he survives or not. Unlike those other movies, we don’t see Michael get taken out in this one. Sure, he ends up getting trapped in a secure basement and flames engulf the place from top to bottom. Would be impossible to escape from, right? Yet when the movie cuts back to where Michael was last seen standing, he is nowhere to be found. Also worth noting, is they intended to kill him off in the aforementioned movies, whereas in Halloween 2018 it’s hinted that he might still be around (his breathing in the after credits may confirm that). I say they definitely left room open for a sequel.

Yeah, the camera showed the spot where he was standing and he was gone. That and the post-credits breathing implies he lived.

Didn't he have a fire poker down there? He could've used it to break through the wall.

reply

You have to think that if Michael is strong enough to bust through the front door and grab Laurie at the end of the movie, he is probably strong enough to get out of that basement somehow.

The next one could still be good, but like everything, it's all in the writing. If they go for just the quick cash grab, then yeah, it's going to suck bad.

reply

Pretty sure with a house like that and the "trap, that theres at least a safe spot or two where Micheal can survive even though he still got burned by the fire.

House fires like that there was a safe spot zone in the cellar for Myers to be safe a little bit.

Plus the gas line and the fire in the house looked dangerous and burned Myers anyway but hell live anyway

reply

Dude, they literally beheaded him in H20 and brought him back.

It's just what they do.

Fortunately I didnt watch that crapfest. I havent watched ANY of the Halloween movies since the original Halloween I and II and then Zombie's reboot.

I thought they were hinting that Allyson would be the final girl, should they do a sequel.
