Anyone notice all the fake IMDb reviews?

Seems more common after they closed the boards. Huge gap between metascore of 48 and IMDb rating of 7.8.

...... and it SHOCKS you that critics and moviegoers dont agree?

I didnt write a review but I gave the movie an 8 and I meant it.

We listen to more fake news every day than we read fake reviews.
The reason I have been given my own brain and intelligence is to decide what I think is right.

I don't know if the reviews are fake. Reading your question again, maybe you mean the ratings. I don't know if those are fake either.

In any event, I'll comment on the reviews. Did you notice you can no longer sort the reviews on IMDb? They are now all ordered by "helpfulness." I always used to sort by highest rated to see why people liked a film, and then by lowest rated to find out what people hated. It gave me a range of opinions.

Okay, so now options for that are gone, but at least if they let the reviews sort by date it would be better. To have them presented by most upvoted as "helpful" means groups that either love or hate a film can blast their point of view to the top and push dissenters to the bottom of the pile. So its a research project to mine out the "why" that goes with love or hate.

Every day I like IMDb less.

It's not so much fakeness as it is critics and audiences saw different things here. Critics wanted a more thorough biography of Barnum the business man, which is far more complicated than this very PG rated musical was willing to go into. But what most critics didn't take into account really was the total extravagance of the dancing and set and costume design, as well as the fact that there isn't a song in the whole movie that isn't a total winner. It's not the best story, but it's incredibly enjoyable.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see and if you have any thoughts or criticisms, i'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/8_-6y44Ueio

Yep. Even some of these people sitting here "debating" about fake reviews, are probably fake themselves. But they will lie through their teeth swearing up and down they would never do such a thing.

I noticed Imdb was selling it's soul to fake reviews before they finally shut it down.

Hell, they even had some of the people that were starring in the films, the directors, screenwriters, and extreme fans - posting links to their movie's website - on IMdb. I distinctly remember one SYFY movie where the mother of one of the child stars was posting saying the date and time her kid's movie was going on air - BEFORE the movie even came out..

Imdb used to have real reviewers give a rating. Some of them were given spoiler alerts in their reviews as well. This was great. This way i could make a decision whether to hit or miss..

All of a sudden, even 2 star SYFy movies were getting 5's and 10's.

It's happening all over.

Yelp, Rotten Tomatoes, Indeed, Disquis, Quora, Amazon online, you can't look at a movie review or a popular store item without someone working for that company, a screen writer, PR person, or their local clerk posing as a customer, user, or even worse, a "real" reviewer.

And yes, i think Imdb is lying like a Persian rug regarding the movies they will be streaming later on their websites, especially Amazon. They want that money, man..

There's only word to describe the capitalist society in which we live: SHAMELESS..

It has 90% audience score on RT. 7.7 User score on metacritic. 8.0 user rating on imdb. Seems pretty consistent. You need to stop paying all attention to the critic reviews, and look more at what the audience thinks, regular movie-goers. Metacore is based off critics opinions. They also have a user score on the site that is from regular people not some snobby "critics." And some critics love it, some hate it, some are mixed. Go figure. Some critics don't even give their honest opinion. Metascore based off 43 critics. Vs user score based off 142 users.

I've noticed IMDB is most likely shutting down the reviews station... makes sense

Regular moviegoers aren't that smart. Some of the worst movies get great box office numbers. The Wizard of Oz was a flop when it first came out and look at how loved it is now. Don't always trust the public or critics. This time the critics were right. This movie was OK, but it isn't a sensational musical. There are many better ones out there.

You're correct I'm sure. The whole world we live in is fake. Fake like farms (yes, look it up), fake reviews for everything literally, fake news, fake events, fake paparazzi, fake history, fake money, fake polls, fake diamonds....the list goes on and on.
"There's a sucker born every minute" P.T. Barnum. There's your movie

Why would such a successful film need fake reviews?
