Rewatching in 2020 -- Show Sucks

I’m rewatching all the episodes and just finished Series 2. This show is pretty bad.

So far the only good episodes are S01 EP01 A Study in Pink & S02 EP02 Hound of the Baskervilles.

I thought the great game was really good.

I found the last series was probably the worst. The first episode I remember wasn't up to much but I loved the reveal of Eurus and how she had already been on the show in multiple disguises. Just caught the end of that episode on TV right now. It made her look like someone who could even outwit sherlock.

Problem is they didn't really use this and just made her a psycho and tried to make it out as if she'd been behind everything from series 1 and even behind Moriarty which I didn't like as he worked best as being his own person. The finale felt like saw meets the cube to

Agreed; I would not had said that when the series started and the first movie came out; but Game of Shadows basically blew away anything the show was doing. and though I thought Cumberbatch is a great Holmes; Downey Jr. really gave a top performance in Game of Shadows. I think I just wasn't as impressed with the first Downey Holmes film because of the 'dark sorcery' angle it was playing. I loved Game of Shadows and Moriarity was so much better in the film than in the show.

Show always sucked. Still, it was something to watch. If I remember right, each series had one good episode.

The show started off promising had some good actors and performances; but between Watson being relegated to useless audience stand in to be amazed by everything around him and the show obviously falling in love itself over how 'clever' it was, the show really started to take a nose dive after series 2. Then again, I thought Moriarty was a bit over the top in the finale of series 2.

Actually, that sounds like a pretty accurate description of the Watson character from the stories. All the modern Holmes vehicles seem to make Watson into more than what he was, especially that Elementary show.

Any particular defense of the show you'd like to make. Personally I liked the first 2 series and thought they were rather top notch; after the faked 'death of Holms' the shows return really went into fantasy land and I really didn't like it. Things like Watson's new wife being a former super assassin is like something out of bad fan fiction or a bad soap opera.

yeah, like with stopping WestWorld after Season 1; if you stop watching Sherlock after Series 2, it is actually a great show. If you keep watching it, not so much.

After starting over I am out in the first series. I will watch Hound based on your comments.
