What Franchises Are Less?

I can think of Tron and Gremlins that exist with only one sequel.

But is that it? What other franchises are less?

Blade Runner / BR2049

2001 / 2010

Escape from New York / LA

The Thing 1982 / The Thing 2011

Total Recall 1990 / TR 2012

I'd give you the first three there.

I've been wanting to rewatch 2010 for a while now - I remember that as being pretty decent. Not a cinematic classic like the first one but still, pretty good in its own right...

2010 is a worthy sequel much like Blade Runner 2 (but like that is no where near as iconic/classic as the original)

Jack Reacher
TASM

2010 is a good film. Its only problem is that it followed a masterpiece.

reply

Alien Vs. Predator only lasted 2 movies. Yeah it doesn't count since Alien and predator both had solo movies afterwards but, still. Also, I hear they are working on a Gremlins 3. Beetlejuice is getting a sequel this year.

reply

Nicolas Cage has two: National Treasure and Ghost Rider.

The Woman in Black
The Woman in Black: Angel of Death

Anchorman
Anchorman 2: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
(there was a DTV third entry (I haven't seen it), but it was apparently just a collection of outtakes from the first two)
