Relatively speaking to most world leaders….he came from very little….and he essentially had a French dominion over most of continental Europe and the Mediterranean….so, he had a pretty good trajectory for awhile…..

But this particular movie didnt do that great a job of showing the uniqueness of his ascent or the vastness of his victories….

I guess him looking at a Mummy was supposed to convey that?

This is from an English director who has a low opinion of the French (based on interviews). I think he is probably more interested showing him as over confident and having too much pride and ego (based on the trailer), in other words, stupid and vain, that is why he failed, and he seemed to be shown like that from the start.

The movie does not show Napoleon as stupid and vain but rather as socially weird.

I think the movie showed Napoleon failed due to his ego, and I suspect the history is more complex than that.
