First Reviews are Mixed. 61% on Rotten Tomatoes

Probably will hurt it's performance at the box office a bit.

Is this another movie that's over 3 Hours?? This seems like the new normal now when making movies is if it's under 3 Hours, it's no good??

reply

2hr 38minutes so close

That’s just the critic score, and they haven’t mattered in years. The audience score and word-of-mouth is what affects the box office.

What hurts the box office numbers is knowledge that there's a four hour cut possibly coming later on. Why bother with just the highlights when you can watch the entire movie a bit later.

reply

Longer doesn't always mean better.

reply

No, but usually it does. I have only few movies where considerably shorter version is more to my liking (Apocalypse Now, Lifeforce, Kubrick's The Shining...) Also the word is out that this 4 hour cut of Napoleon is really good.

reply

It's rising, 68% now.

reply

Lucky for me I don't give a rat's ass what critics think.

It's a Ridley Scott movie. It will be shot well. The acting will be fine. But, he has a disconnect from the audience that causes a rift between viewers and the content. That's why his recent films aren't as well appreciated as his earlier films. I still think the Duelist is his best historical film.
