Where the white people at?

I grew up white and damned poor in Washington Heights, and had the privilege of getting my ass kicked on a regular basis for not being the right race. Are there any white people in the movie?

Your neighbors should have been rounded up and shot. Or prosecuted for hate crimes

reply

There were, quite rightly, no hate crimes back then - that is, it had not yet been conceived of. Hate crimes are the first instance in history of our punishing motive rather than action and intent.

reply

Either way I believe predators deserve to die.

It was a rough time in Washington Heights. It was the crack capitol of the United States. You didn't know anyone who hadn't been mugged repeatedly.

reply

Your entire neighborhood should have been burned to the ground and those people killed.

Except, the simple presumption of a persons action based on the color of their skin, is racist in itself. Maybe this guy is just an asshole, and it has nothing to do with race?

reply

I'm sure they were in the alleys getting their asses kicked. Maybe it's in the outtakes.

reply

Lmao!!

reply

Whites getting their asses kicked by minorities is definitely a problem. It's good to see you be willing to discuss the reality of racism perpetrated towards whites by non whites, which gets totally overlooked by the news and social media for fear of being labeled racist. Its a real problem that is dividing our country.

This film is no accurate portrayal of Washington Heights. It's what they want people to see so they can be like "oh wow these hispanic communities are just so lovely! White people just treat them bad for no reason but they are all so great." It's a very Disney portrayal of the Heights (and its not even a Disney movie)

You're probably right

They're buying drugs near 173rd

reply

At the Port Authority?

reply

A short walk, north/east, from there. The proximity to the bridge is intentional. Those NJ plates flow in across the GWB, slow down, pick up, and drive back across the bridge to NJ. The police sweep there now and then. They know what's going on.

reply

The 34th precinct was always a rough place, and its cops always had to walk a tightrope. More now than ever, I expect.

reply

Ah in this fantasy Disney-esque world of "In The Heights" the white people are still buying drugs and the hispanics are just singing and working hard. LMAO

reply

Nah, I'm not talking about the movie.
