If I was named Karen, I'd sue

Perpetuation of a negative stereotypes of white women called Karen. It's disgusting. My people shouldn't have to endure this hate.

reply

I bet you'd talk to the manager too.

reply

And exactly what is wrong with complaining to a manager over poor service anyway?

reply

I'm a bit of a Karen at times, but why not? I've gotten free stuff from complaining and upgrades in hotels. It pays to complain.

reply

There's nothing wrong with being a pain in the ass.

reply

I'm only a pain in the ass when staff don't side with me.

If I were named, Sue, I would Karen.

Funny how these Karens always seem to be white...

reply

I guess white peeps need to start calling their daughters Imani or Ebony - but wait, that would be cultural misappropriation - bah - you can't win!

reply

You would sue who? Once you are 18 you can legally change your name and suing your parents for giving birth to you seems rather heartless, especially since no one would win except the lawyers.

reply

Sue the film production company. Not talking about parents. Since when on the OP's post did she say she would sue her own parents too?

reply

Exactly what would the suit be? A fictional person in a film who had the same name as me did bad things?

I asked who would you sue because there really isn't a good law to use here.

reply

I think it'd be great if all the women named Karen got together and filed a class-action lawsuit against the filmmakers. Of course they'd never win as the use of "Karen" as an insult spread over the internet before the movie was ever made, but it'd still be a hilarious case.

Hell, if I was a lawyer, I'd go around recruiting Karens just for shits and giggles! And I'd send a proposal to Whoopi Goldberg (her real name is Caryn Johnson), just to see what the hell she'd say in response!

reply

and you are such a snowflake, getting triggered by a simple movie.

reply

We can retire the term "snowflake," too. This is 2021.

reply

only when conservatives admit they are just a snowflakey as liberals, then sure

reply

Yea no. Liberals created that name by being thin skinned and having to complain about everything..

reply

actually the term snowflake goes all the way back to 1860. racist conservatives created the word as an insult towards white pro-abolitionists. they were so offended that they made a new word to describe someone they didnt like. and conservatives literally complain about everything too. try to prove me wrong because you will lose.

reply

Its weird for me too, because the only Karen I knew personally was a decent and kind lady with a good sense of humor.
