Twilight of the Girl Boss phenomenon

Let's hope this is a turning point for Hollywood(just like Fury Road was) and this stupid neofeminist trend of female empowerment ends with Furiosa(even though it won't) they destroyed Star Wars the 'M She U' Terminator(Woke Fate) the Predator(Prey) and now Mad Max
The only movie that the target audience of this franchise (25-45 men) want to watch is an OLD MAN MAD MAX starring Mel Gibson the one and only genuine Mad Max
I would say he should direct it too Apocalypto style
That's a billion dollar movie just like Top Gun 2 but Hollywood will never make it ,because they hate Gibson for his politics and 'wild' takes
So sad I hope one day when Hollywood will be long gone powerful A.I. will be able to produce an old man Mad Max movie...

I fear AI isn't saving cinema, or any art form. If AI truly does become sentient it will likely have an agenda of its own so non-human and divorced from reality that it will make the "woke period" seem like a golden age in comparison. I mean, aren't we basically acknowledging that humanity is no longer capable (for whatever reason) of producing its own art, something we've likely been doing before we even had language? What makes you think AI won't be even more woke, if it deems these trends inevitable for the "progress of mankind" as it understands it? Even before AI, we've been moving away from using humans, for instance deaging, completely CGI characters (even dead ones), and more. At some point (with the help of CGI) actors will not used at all and be completely unreal from start to finish. And that's just actors. ALL aspects of creativity will be ceded to AI, as we are too afraid of offending anyone and perhaps lose the ability or even the will to create. Art and culture of any depth has hardly been a huge priority of most average people even before. Sure, we'll get lots of new Bruce Lee and James Dean movies to "correct" the mistakes of history, more Mozart, more Shakespeare, etc, but it'll all be a lie, an even bigger, dehumanizing lie than anything humans are currently making.

or rather perhaps... maybe the Garfield boss phenomenon reached its twilight? 😱

incorrect. the entire box office for the year has been down. streaming is up. like others this will thrive on streaming. and yet even with down theater numbers all around, this one is still on par with previous titles of the genre: female led action. you need to be able to see larger picture beyond your 3 button calculator to understand it. that's why the studios get paid to make things happen, while your kind just get not-paid to keyboard cry about it on the internet

the "disney is going to be brankrupt any minute, trust me" and "go woke go broke if i screech it loud enough" hasn't come to fruition and it's becoming clearer that it never will.

there is only hopium left

furiosa isn't blood in the water
that's just your own female-presenting menstrual fluid

nope.
I would watch a Post apocalptic Mad Max film with any protagonist - its the world I want to see not Mel gibson dragging his old age pensioners ass around.
A younger Max , male or female , is better .

ffs if Max's name hadnt been in the title of the film we wouldnt be having all these pointless "Wheres Max" threads.
If Mad Max 1 had been called "Highway Gangs gone Wild" we wouldnt need to have a man called max in them all

Well, I guess you're in luck then, because Italy alone must've put out about a million Road Warrior rip-offs between 1981 and 1989; if Max is so inessential to his own story, I'm sure there must be a significant number of masterpieces on par with the original among those.

Indeed there is , and I've enjoyed and collected quite a few .
Quality is very ropey in a lot of them . on par with Mad Max 1 is a good benchmark / cutoff point .
I'm sure Furiosa is above that line

Not made with the media and technology of Fury Road and Furiosa.

And yeah, the interesting is the post apocalyptic australian world of Mad Max, not Max himself.

LOL. Nobody apart few 40-years old fanboys wants to see Mel Gibson OLD MAN MAD MAX. That movie would make even less than Furiosa.

There is a reason why Stallone, Arnold, Willis and other don't headline big budget movies. Because they got old and no one cares to see old face and body run around pretending they are young. Tom Cruise hanged on to that Mission thing but eventually people git tired and last one flopped.

Top Gun 2 was rare exception. It's not gonna happen to sequel of every 40 years old movie with old actor.

Nobody cares to see Mad Max Universe in general. Let alone old fart face of Gibson. With Grandpa Max run around. LOL.

I'm 51 and I don't want to see old man Max as the center of the movie, but I would have liked some level of fan service, a passing of the torch, or other send off with old Max.

reply

Most men would rather watch a movie starring a beautiful young woman than an elderly man. If I was casting a Mad Max movie I would have an all female cast with no men at all.

I heard the next installment will be about Max's mother. She was actually a wasteland warrior before she gave birth to Max. Mel Gibson will be de aged to briefly play a fetus and then a 6 year old Max who ends up saving his mother's life by killing some blood bags with a rolling pin. He then carries the rolling pin around in a holster the rest of the movie. He quickly learns to kills raccoons, squirrels and small kangaroos to feed himself and his mother. At one point the 6 year old Max exclaims "that was mighty good with mustard" after finishing off a large rat he killed earlier with the rolling pin, which he has now learned to use in a way similar to a boomerang.

His mother spends most of the movie recuperating from the beating she took earlier in the movie. Her wounds are quite serious and the road to recovery is quite long. She is in a great deal of misery and frequently cries out in pain because of the lack of modern medicine and pain killers. She uses alcohol to numb some of the pain. Max finds another use for the rolling pin and frequently smacks her in the head with it "shut your mouth you drunken whore" as he heads out to fight more bad guys and look for fuel and diapers.

They might name this one Mini Mad Max: Carriage of Carnage

Other possible titles: The Basinet Barbarian, the Diaper Dealer of Death, Stroller Sadist, The Buggy Battler.
