Am I the only one bored with the White Walkers?

They just seem like too much of a coincidence for getting Jon Snow and Bran Stark into a position of power.

The Hardhome episode really made the white walker threat come to life. But they lost that momentum a while ago. Also, if you look at a map, Hardhome isn't that far from the Wall, so where are these guys??

… is about 200 miles away from Eastwatch-by-the-Sea.
And the brief shot we saw this season implies that the Army of the Dead moves very, very slowly. We don’t know why – we know that the wights, unlike the walkers of The Walking Dead, CAN move very quickly. Maybe they can hold up that speed only for a very short time, or (and my guess is that this is the case) the White Walkers are still waiting for something, most likely for winter to grow harder.

most likely for winter to grow harder.

I think you got it right there.

That's got my vote. They thrive in that environment, so I would guess they've amassed and are waiting for the snows to set in so they can make a move. (Not bored with them.)

reply

Yeah, they are waiting on the long night, which happens on the real Earth at the poles for several months. But in the world of ice and fire, it varies, and could last a generation.

reply

I'm not bored of the WW. They're the worst creeping threat to all human existence.

reply

Not really. I rewatched an old episode today and it was the one where Sam gets stranded outside and they all surround him. And the one White Walker rides his horse up and looks directly at Sam.

That shit creeps me out!

There was another scene in one of the more recent seasons where Bran is walking amongst the walking dead and he approaches the White Walker to get a better look and the Night King looks directly at him and then he turns and all of the dead are looking at him. That too...creeped me the hell out!

I'm glad they've kept their presence minimal...and as an ever-growing threat. I think it's time to deal with them.

The Bran scene was last season, and you're right-- it was spooky. I can't wait until some of the doubters like Daenerys finally get to see the army of the dead personally. Let's see them roll their eyes then.

Have we seen anything of them this season, other than that he one awesome shot of the WW and their army appearing out of a subzero storm? Which was, IMHO, awesome?

Other than that, we just hear them talked about. Maybe that's what boring some viewers.

reply

They overteased them for 6 seasons that's why.
Oh no, winter is coming!

Winter is here!!
Where are the damn walkers?

reply

The show definitely needs another "Hardhome", something that reinforces just how damn terrifying they can be (in the hands of a really good director).

Hearing everyone talk about them isn't scary!

reply

I expect we'll get another Hardhome this season. My prediction is that the season will end with the army of the dead breaching the Wall, and it will probably be an even more spectacular battle than Hardhome was, due to the implications of it.
