She has seen, heard, and done far more than you, so she knows a lot more than you and is more sophisticated. The fact that she gets the jokes, and you don't, indicates that it is you who are lacking, not her.

I don't think shows like this are meant to be enormously funny.
I think they're meant to be comforting.
After a hard day at work, it's junk food for the brain. Everything's bright and warm and safe. I get it.
I would not say junk food but yes I agree with you..after a day/week of hard work you just need a little bit entertainment and I usually got it with the BBT
