How did this crap make nearly $3 billion??

People didn't go to see a movie, they went to see a 3D spectacle. It's unbelievable how the 3D alone sold this movie.

Never liked Cameron anyway

The 3D premium probably boosted the number a lot. I dont get the attraction either and I cant believe they are making more of them so many years later.

Some people like a simple, colorful story. A long time ago me and three other guys were stuck in Indianapolis when the 500 was rained out and someone suggested we go to the new Stallone movie Cobra.
I was incredulous, but he just smiled and said, I like this kind of stuff. Same with Avatar. Simple, colorful, dumb fantasy story.

Reverse nostalgia again? Remember, this was huge when it came out. It's been 10 years, so obviously the hype died down ages ago.
