DID ASHTON KUTCHER KILL TWO AND A HALF MEN?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHFrcF-fQNA

During Season 8 of Two And A Half Men --- Charlie Sheen had a very public rivalry with show creator Chuck Lorre followed by a very public firing from the show.

But as Freddy Mercury once sang " The Show Must Go On". Ashton Kutcher was brought into replace Charlie Harper as Walden Schmidt ...

But how'd he do?

Was this a second coming of That 70s Show or was this another Dude Where's My Car dud?

reply

ASHTON WAS FINE...THE SHOW WAS THE SHEEN SHOW...PURE AND SIMPLE.

reply

Winner winner Sheen dinner.

reply

Yes

reply

He's nothing to write home about as an actor, nonetheless he can't accurately blamed for this show going to shit. That was the result of the damned thing having dragged out for as long as it did, and Lorre and the gang choosing not to simply end things and move on to the next project

reply

Agreed The show went on too long. It made no sense for Walden to take in a total stranger like Alan. The premise of the show died when they killed off Charlie.

reply

What did he do with the other half of the half man he killed?

reply

The half man didn't die though.

reply

There wasn't much to do after Charlie Sheen left so I wouldn't blame Kutcher.

Kushton kept the show going. Face it, Sheen looked like deep fried shit in the last season and caused the show to end. That they revived it two years later is another story. The show was already dead because of Sheen. Kushton's show was a revival really.

2.5 Men did it right by first selecting a fairly charismatic actor to replace Sheen and then making sure his new character wasn't a carbon copy of the departing one (M.A.S.H did it the same way and it worked).

I didn't think it would work, but the show kept excellent ratings after Sheen's departure.

I think the biggest problem wasn't Sheen's departure in later years, it was turning Alan from a normal if downtrodden guy into a real weirdo who lost his moral compass. I guess they figured if Waldon was the normal moral one, they needed to take Alan in Charlie's old direction.

I think instead they could have used another character, maybe Charlie's long lost son (as opposed to daughter) to carry on the debauchery.

In any case, 2.5 Men ran 4 more years at good ratings and was ended when the ratings were still good, so Kutcher didn't kill the show.

reply

They should have replaced him with Tom Cruse. Cruise have always looked up to Sheen. It would be a great fit

reply

Haha. That would have been great. But Cruise would never have deigned to be a regular on a tv sitcom.

Never understood hype and success of that show. Tried to watch it. Its boring nonsense. Not funny at all. Yet some folks watched it like crazy.

Every show has its peak and then gets ending or cancellation. It would end with Sheen or without. But it was so spectacular stupid from Sheen to assassinate his golden chicken like that. Not often you see such idiots.

Dude was aging b-listed washed up movie actor. Whose glory days were long behind him. Then got lucky to get into hit show. Then got lucky to be payed so much money. Then it went over his head and he decided he is bigger then show. Then was fired and was never cast in anything that would bring him the amount of money he was having at that show. His career ended.
