the lowest rated bond movie on imdb

do you agree?

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls078535153/?sort=user_rating,desc&st_dt=&mode=detail&page=1

reply

Nope.

Quantum of Solace is my least-favourite; it doesn't even feel like/act like a Bond movie. It's just Jason Bourne with a really Bond-like opera sequence in the middle. The camera is jittery, it's underwritten...ugh.

Die Another Day has Halle Berry dragging it down, and it's got a lot of CGI stuff that's just too much, but there's a lot of good stuff in there, particularly in the first half.

No, in fact I ranked this one 12th, my 12-14th rankings were all films that I know objectively aren’t great but are huge guilty pleasures of mine (Die Another Day, You Only Live Twice, A View To A Kill).

The four I legitimately don’t like are Moonraker, Quantum Of Solace, Diamonds Are Forever and No Time To Die.

reply

I think it's terrible. Honestly, I've only watched a handful of bond movies and most of what I've seen are the Brosnan films.

The stunts were a step down from goldeneye and the CGI was distracting.

reply

"die another day" is terrible... says "Anotherday" :D

reply

Lol.

reply

There's plenty I rated lower than Die Another Day.

Quantum of Solace, Diamonds Are Forever, Moonraker, A View to a Kill, Octopussy and No Time to Die* are all Bond films I happily don't own.

*Won't buy!

reply

Give View to a Kill another shot. The Grace Jones factor is coloring your view perhaps. I don't really like Moore's 007 films other than TSWLM and V2aK.

On topic: I rank DAD 2nd worst right in front of DaF (unless I am forced to count Woody Allen Casino Royal).

the bottom 6 in my ranking:

6. Specter
5. Octopussy
4. Moonraker
3. Never Say Never Again
2. Die another Day
1. Diamonds are Forever

(I have not seen NTTD and won't until it is free and effortless)

reply

Why won't you see it?

Or in other words - What made you stop with Spectre?

The last one I saw was Skyfall. It was so horrific that I resolved never to watch any of these Craig "Bond" films ever again. And I haven't. Wouldn't watch them even on free TV nor in fact if you paid me to...

reply

For as bad as QoS was, Skyfall was worse and then Spectre even worse. I felt like I had had enough. I decided to wait on word of mouth on the new one to make my choice. I have to watch it someday just for completion sake but I am in no hurry at this point. Everything I heard made me say nope. I'll catch it some day if I find myself sitting in a chair in front of it playing.

reply

. I have to watch it someday just for completion sake...

That's the thing I don't get. Not just yourself, lots of people say something like that but I just don't find the product authentic and therefore there's nothing to complete.

Same thing with Star Wars. So many people complain about the entire sequel trilogy /Disney output yet they've still watched the lot!

I gave it a fair crack but Rogue One was awful and The Last Jedi was the final straw. Much like Skyfall following QoS. Simply no interest in watching anything further...

reply

I get ya. Same thing with me and the original Batman movies and most franchises. After the 3rd one I quit. It is different with 007 and Star Wars though. I won't watch the new ones from those in the theater anymore because they have drastically disappointed me too many times in a row. However, the times they thrilled me in the past are many and to mind blowing levels. So I must give a look eventually. I'll never know if they have come back to glory unless I see for myself. I'm am simply no longer champing at the bit to do so.

I agree with your assessment of when SW collapsed and other than a serviceable 30 minutes in the middle of QoS, the fall of the Bond franchise as well.

reply

I might buy A View to a Kill for Walken, DAF for Connery, and Moonraker for the sheer audacity of it some day.
