Next season the last?

Since it will be all returning winners, could they be planning to end it after the season?

reply

Possibly, since it will be season 40. This could be a good stopping point. As much as I love Survivor, I wish it would end. It seems to become a parody of itself. Its not new or edgy like it used to be 10 years or so ago.

How did you find that out?

About the cast being all former winners? I read an article a while ago. Here’s one talking about it:

That is quite interesting. Not sure about the money to buy luxury items twist but should be fun! I love this show so much! I would love to see fan favorites of Naked and Afraid season. That would be really cool!

reply

That could be interesting with N&A contestants. It probably would end up being a lot like the earliest seasons of Survivor where they focused on the surviving aspect more. And challenges would be more oriented towards survival skills. Would be a nice change of pace.

Article has conflicting information about Richard Hatch. Isn't it a term of his probation thta he can't leave the country without permission? That would seem to be simplest explanation.

This season is terrible. Jeff is hardly in it, and he's on auto pilot when he is there. Latest ep he was so busy giving his drama commentary he forgot to even announce the winner won the challenge. I'm sure it's because he was spending all his time setting up season 40. I'm not sure this show should air twice a year anymore.

I was irritated with how he treated Dan. You know what I would have loved to hear? Dan asking Jeff "Since we are not going to let it go... how many years did it take for people to not think you were sleeping with the contestants out here?" "Does Lisa still accuse you of being too close with the women out here?" "You will never let it go? Neither should we?" 🤔🤔

reply

I'm a woman and that particular episode really upset me. If Dan was doing something inappropriate then he should have been removed from the show - end of story. Instead they turned it into a story line - how disgusting. I almost stopped watching because of that.

I'm surprised Dan didn't say screw you Jeff during tribal council and walk out.

I was talking to someone about this (Not an authority so please take that into account) and he told me something very interesting. A lot of those former winners (Rob, Amber, Parvati, et al) are members of the Screen Actors Guild. As a term of their membership, they HAVE to be paid to appear on the program, win or lose. Is this true?

Remember when former Survivor cast members did "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" for charity. Supposedly, they were each paid about $50,000.

reply

I think I remember reading somewhere that all Survivor contestants get paid something no matter where they finish - though those that finish higher get more. Maybe that qualifies as fulfilling the SAG requirements.

reply

Each contestant gets prize money depending on where they finish. Besides the million for the winner, $2500 for the first eliminated to $100,000 to the first runner up. I couldn't tell you if prizes qualify as a payment.

I read that Survivor hasn´t been renewed for 41 and 42 but its expected it will be, and they started casting calls for s41 months ago.
