Is this show being forgotten?

This was the IT show for a long time. So huge. So talked about. Just like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones and Walking Dead in their heydeys. But you don't hear about it anymore. It doesn't get brought up in discussions of legendary shows. It doesn't seem to resonate with younger audiences at all. What you think? Are you the only person in your social circle still carrying a torch for Sopranos?

They'll do a prequel in the next five years. Just wait and see.

reply

I've still never even seen it, and don't plan to. Couldn't care less.

I think it's one of the best shows of all time but also that there's not really much to think about after you've watched it. It's just kind of something you experience and then move on from. Maybe rewatch once or more down the line. Even the ending, you're really just guessing on what might have happened next so it's not worth debating.

There's no guessing, it's pretty clear if one understands film a bit more.
Chase pretty much confirmed his death several times over the years and even before, when he got a kick out of people not getting it, he said "it's all there!" (to understand what happened).
There are plenty of good analysis videos on YouTube that pick every detail apart for those who are still unsure even after all these years.

It's literally one of the prime examples for legendary TV shows and one of those who are always mentioned, what are you on about?

reply

BREAKING BAD was actually discussed more than The SOPRANOS..

Someone needs to do an edit where is just the mafia. The family garbage didn’t age well.

I heard somewhere it was the most watched show during lockdown. I don't remember the exact stat but it was along those lines.

It's not really being forgotten about and if it's not being given more attention it's probably because it ended quite a while ago compared to the other shows you mentioned. Although you only have to look at the first page of The Sopranos board on here and compare it to that of Game of Thrones. The latter has posts dating from a year ago on its first page, whereas Sopranos only has them dating back to 5 months. I think that shows you it's still a very popular TV show.

Interesting. I never tracked a show that way before. Just seems silent on social media platforms like facebook and twitter. I'm not a big reddit user or anything.
