Kevin Spacey's best performance.

Easily. I love his work in 'Se7en' and the little I've seen from him on 'House of Cards' is fantastic, but this is probably my favourite performance of his.

Have you seen American Beauty? I struggle deciding which Spacey performance I love most between that and LA Confidential.

reply

My 2 favorite Spacey performances are easily Jack Vincennes and John Doe.

Don't forget K-PAX. Another good one.

American Beauty and Se7en I would barely put above this. He is elite at his craft.

This and Verbal!!!!

VERBAL: Keaton always said, "I don't believe in God, but I'm afraid of him." Well, I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is Keyser Soze.

SPOILERS:

I agree, for some specific reasons.

He'd played creepy villains in Se7en and (eventually) in The Usual Suspects, but here was a character who starts "bad," finds a conscience, slowly turns good, dies in the effort and still, "from beyond the grave" manages to nail the main Bad Guy.

Its a fully formed character with a definitive arc...and the most sympathetic character Kevin Spacey ever played.

Also: Jack "the Big V" Vincennes is COOL. Cool jackets. Cool ties. Lester Burnham in American Beauty(not really a great role) was not cool. Not to mention: Jack's smart. Dudley calls it: "You've never not had a smart thought in your life." Or drawn a smart breath. Or something like that.

Indeed, Jack's smart enough to figure out how to "nail" Dudley by mouthing "Rollo Tomasi." OK, maybe Jack didn't KNOW that Dudley would use the name, but he's smart enough to know that Dudley IS Rollo Tomasi. Its why he dies with a smile on his face.

I agree he was pretty great in this.

Kevin Spacey is one of the best actors ever.
And the scene in which Sergeant Vincennes dies, is one of the best acted deaths ever.
You can see how the light in his eyes fades and goes out.

Swimming With Sharks is an underated Spacey movie.

He plays a tyrannical movie exec, with Frank Whaley as his hapless, inexperienced assistant.

Thank you for that tip! â™Ĩ
That'll become a longer Kevin Spacey movie evening.
Hmmm, now only need to find a good excuse to stay home.

No way. It's a showy performance because he's a sleazy character.
