Most depressing movie ever

Damn.

Its pretty unusual for a comedy to start off with its main protagonist, a boyscout young kid, getting his hand mutilated by a gang of thugs and end up a miserable loser and even end up a loser by the end of the movie, with a chick who will probably bleed him dry and leave him.

The only one who has a true "happy ending" is Randy Quaid. And he is literally back right where he started.

While Roy didn't win the tournament, he did finally take responsibility for his role in his accident, was back on the pro bowling tour, had lucrative endorsements, a smoking hot girlfriend, and most importantly quit drinking.

Claudia was out of an abusive relationship, and who knows how things go with Roy.

And Ishmail may have been back in his town, he was now the hero who saved it from bankruptcy, instead of the big goof who no one took seriously. And his father was proud of him, for probably the first time in his life, for helping Roy and Claudia. And he was definitely getting the girl that he liked.

Their comedy "Hall Pass" REALLY depressed me.

I rewatched this last night for the first time in about 20 years, and this is all true. I don't remember it being so depressing.

I like it but it's almost kinda disturbing how much of a douche Bill Murray's character is.
