What do you think went through Henry's head as he fell?

I laugh my ass off hearing that scream, as he fails about falling to his death...evil, I know...but he was such an arrogant little turd. So, what do you think HE was thinking on his 6-12 second fall to death?

This is one of the few things I would change about the movie. He spoke previously about flying, and had a fascination with death, but at the same time seemed nonchalant about it ("scientific"). I would probably have had a close up of his (calm) face as he fell, and had him give a gasp of exhilaration ("so this is what it feels like") before pulling back out for the landing. It also might have worked for him to react angrily, driving home the mother's guilt about it.

reply

Ooh, totally. That would have been ice-cold, and fitting.

Omg that would be insanely creepy but I think the scream was unexpected. He was so out of his mind that it was like at the end, the audience can go "this insane kid is actually still a kid" where at some point we might have forgotten due to his actions.

I think I made a horrified face when I watched it and he screamed.

I think the ending is fine the way it is and you explained it perfectly about him still being a kid.

You just made the movie better.

reply

Wow, that's actually a pretty eerie idea for an alternate ending.

all done with awful cgi and teal and orange a la Nolan of course.

reply

How would they even have time to show it like that? Also, it would've made Susan's dilemma much less dramatic.

reply

Personally, I would have taken out the line, "If she could go back to make the choice again, I wonder if she'd choose Henry over me." if I had been in charge of it.

"It is done."

Things like this make me wish this site had a 'like/laugh react' feature like on facebook

"Oooops!"

Why didn't mom give me her other hand? Henry was a psychopath, so he would have only thought about himself as he was falling.

I still like to think horror and rage went through his twisted little mind.

Say, do you hear that? It's the sound of the Reaper.....

reply

I imagine something like "I can't fly." Since he asked Mark "If I let go, do you think you could fly?" earlier in the movie.

Some rocks, maybe a few tree branches. Hyuk hyuk.

I think of the line in Shawshank Redemption where Morgan Freeman narrates, "I think the last thing to go through the warden's head, other than that bullet".
