Mike Judge will return to write and provide the voices for the classic MTV Generation X animated series, which will be "reimagined" for Generation Z. Comedy Central has ordered two seasons of the revival, with plans for additional spinoffs and specials. The new incarnation will see Beavis and Butt-Head enter a "whole new Gen Z world" that will be relatable to young people who didn't watch the original 1990s series. "It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again," Judge quipped of Beavis and Butt-Head's return. This will mark Beavis and Butt-Head's second revival after MTV brought it back for a failed Season 8 in 2011. "We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on adult animation at Comedy Central," said ViacomCBS' Chris McCarthy. "Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can’t wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own."

There's a lot to critique here and a lot of pop culture that they can draw from for the series. Will they still be the same age? What about the music video segments? Will they be replaced with tv shows they'll watch and critique?

reply

Oh no. I hate all reboots. Will stick with the original.

They already did a reboot in 2011 and it didn't catch on. The original was a classic but a product of it's time.

where can i watch the 2011 reboot? I am curious how they handle Gen Z this time around. And are there even any good rock music videos for them to review? Most i see now are pop, rap or dance type tunes.

I think you can order it on DVD, I don't know if reruns have aired since the original airing.

The reboot was actually really good! It’s just that MTV just isn’t a good place for animation right now. Glad it’s on Comedy Central instead. They didn’t review too many rock videos (besides “Kids” by MGMT) and would actually (in place of some of the music video segments) watch of a lot of MTV shows on at the time like Jersey Shore and True Life (the one where they watch the kid who was addicted with jerking off was hilarious) I think this new show will be pretty successful and I’d be surprised if it doesn’t get at least 2 seasons.

THE 2011 REBOOT WAS COOL BUT DIDNT LAST...I HOPE THIS ONE IS JUST AS COOL BUT LAST LONGER.
