Have you ever stayed in a hotel that had snacks in the fridge?

I never been in a hotel like that. I'm assume that only happens in the expensive hotels, but I always wonder how would they know if you took any snacks unless they have a hidden camera in the fridge.

I stayed in a motel with a broken fridge that still had some moldy food in it from the person who stayed there before.

I once stayed at a hotel that had snack, but they weren't free! We had to pay for them

I've stayed in plenty of hotel rooms with fridges and they were not all that expensive. Maybe it's different in Europe or something? Sometimes you need a key, but most of the times it's just readily accessible. You simply have to pay once you leave and if you don't they'll send you a bill.

Yeah, they count the items and charge you for anything missing. On time my wife and I stayed at a fancy downtown hotel for our anniversary, and we were thirsty, so we drank two Cokes at $5 each. Later, we took a walk through downtown, and I bought two cans of Coke at a 7/11 for a buck apiece and replaced the ones in the room.

Some of the mini fridges have electronic sensors. Most of them operate where housekeeping counts the stuff the next day, and if something’s missing they charge you.

Check out Priscilla Queen of the Desert. There’s a whole scene where they drink the minibar, then refill the bottles with water and tea to look like untouched vodka and whiskey.

A lot of hotels have them. Just be prepared to pay for it: I've seen $5.00 cans of Coke.

Yeah they still do this in most hotels here (in the UK), but they're mostly filled with alcohol and less so with snacks. Anything you eat/drink is added to your room bill to settle at the end of your stay. Oh, and the prices are exorbitant to say the least!

I've always wanted to eat those cookies stacked in the fridge. haha.

reply

Of course, that minibar looked amazing.
