He made fun of my orthopaedic shoes

reply

Was the show funny? not really

Did the critics like it? sorta

Does it have a cult following? most definitely

I've only seen like maybe 5 episodes and that was enough for me. I just couldn't get into it. But from what I remember, the finale was one of the highest rated shows of all time. So somebody liked it...

Funny thing about it is people say I look like Jerry Seinfeld. I couldn't even get into my own show.. lol.

reply

The critics loved it and voted it the best show of all time

reply

not all of them...

reply

Most of them

reply

prove it...

not that it really matters what the critics say but I can tell you upfront, most of'em never said this was the best show of all time. But now is your chance to prove me wrong...

reply

You said the critics only sorta liked it

reply

you said most thought it was the best of all time.

LOL!!

anyhow. the fact is, it was rather mixed among the critics.. here you go -

No one called it the best of all time.... LOL!!

reply

Best sitcom of all time

reply

That was after the 1st season, which was buried in the middle of summer. By season 3, the critics loved it, even though it still hadn't fully taken off with the audience yet.

reply

haha... readers choice is fan voting. haha... you're funny.

reply

You are too! Spending a lot of time complaining about a show you only watch 5 episodes and don’t really understand

reply

I wasn't complaining, I was just giving an opinion on it.

But it's okay if you think it's the best of all time. LMAO!!

reply

Which is funny cause that’s kind of what I would do . You’re alright stickman.

reply

That's cool man...

Seems like a lot of people come in here to complain about certain shows and whatnot. I try not to do this but sometimes it can be kind of fun because of the reactions you get from people.

I just got through watching a movie called "Defending Your Life" and thought it was pretty bad but a lot of people liked it. I'm probably going to post a message on that board and rip it to shreds. lol...

Not a very active board though. I doubt I'll get many replies.

Have you seen it? It's a rather old movie from 1991.

reply

I don’t think so, which is why I love it here. I hear about movies I never ever heard of, then get upset when I can’t watch them. I’m in Canada so I have that Netflix. Sometimes I get sucked into back to the future things as well. I love arguing about movies I have seen, and wondering about the ones I haven’t

reply

Yeah same here.,, DYL has a really good premise. It's about a guy that dies and in the afterlife he has to... well... defend his life in a courtroom setting.

But the way they put it together its pretty bad, the script is just so wrong for a movie like this. I guess some people liked it though.

reply

ALBERT BROOKS...GOOD FLICK.

reply

Kowalski,

*****SPOILERS for the film Defending Your Life******

Ahhhh, I really wasn't impressed with it. I went into the movie thinking it was going to be better but it just turned into a sappy love story and a below average one at that, Albert Brooks next to Meryl Streep... yeah, riiiight, thats going to work, lol..

Brooks reminds of Bill Maher in the way he acts, its kind of funny. But Streep out-shined him throughout the whole film.

I was hoping for a clever intelligent comedy/drama. I guess I was expecting too much. I'm getting ready to post something on it's board if you want to give me a reply over there.

reply

Cult Following???!!! 76 million people watched the finale. The last 5 seasons were consistently over 30 million viewers per episode. I don't think you understand what the term "cult following" means.

The Critics didn't like it at first, because it was different from anything else that had been on tv to that point. But by season 3, they loved it. It has an 88% overall critics score and 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, with 5 seasons scoring 100%.

Was it funny: that's subjective. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

reply

Sandman,

At it's peak I wouldn't say it has a cult following but now I probably would. I mean, no one watches it today but I'm sure some dedicated followers probably do watch it occasionally and post messages about it online. ;)

And if you got a link demonstrating that 88% of the critics liked it, feel free to drop it in here. Although, like I said earlier, what the critics say doesn't really matter that much.

It was highly rated at the time. It was massively popular with critics and audiences.

reply

Bingo

reply

I agree man. God help America. The worst thing going on there is that Seinfeld from the 90s isn’t funny to you

reply

Personally I don't find it very funny but I still find it entertaining, same with Friends.
Sitcoms like 3rd Rock From The Sun and Everybody Loves Raymond however... Are laugh-out-loud hilarious.
