Time to cancel it?

I think so.

If it was cancelled would you still watch it?

Exactly.

reply

it should have been cancelled in 2000.

reply

How could we watch it if it was cancelled ?

reply

Syndication. When The Simpsons is canceled reruns of the show will be shown for decades. Also you can always watch The Simpsons on DVD.

Very interesting video on You.tube about this topic called:
The Fall of The Simpsons: How it Happened

It probably should have been canceled around the turn of the century. I think I've seen maybe three whole episodes in the last 15 years and I don't remember anything great standing out about them. It's a 90s show that really should have stayed in the 90s with Seinfeld and Baywatch.

reply

X-Files and Twin Peaks can be added to that list too. It's sad but true.

reply

A really good observation. People were much smarter in the 1990s. The shows mentioned on this thread were in step with the intelligence of that era. While the Simpsons has gotten rather dumb over the years, shows like Seinfeld and Twin Peaks are simply too good for the mindless masses today.

reply

I don't understand why I keep seeing people who say it hasn't been good in X number of years, like 15 here, while admitting they also haven't watched it during that time.

How can you judge the last 15 years of Simpsons based on "maybe three" episodes?

reply

If I see three episodes of a show and they all suck, it's safe to assume the entire series sucks.

reply

Well they may as well at least go to 30 seasons, since they're so close.

reply

I have just finished season 11 and it was an OK season.
Got 12 to view next.
Only started watching the other year.

Agree with the others, it should have been cancelled long ago. They've damaged the legacy of it now with more average seasons than good ones.

They should try and go out with a bang when they do finally finish, by having another movie. Concentrate all their efforts into making it as good as possible. For someone like me who stopped watching a while ago, I probably wouldn't care about watching some last episode of season 30 if that's the last time we see the show. But if the last time we were to see The Simpsons was in a film, that may generate enough interest for me.

reply

They should do a finale where everyone dies.
