I've only ever watched the first three, and I watched them again over the last couple of days. Never seen Bride or Seed but heard that they're pretty much comedies. I was thinking of buying Curse on Blu-Ray but I didn't want to skip ahead unless I need to see the others.
shareYeah, but you'd be really missing out with Bride of Chucky. I know it's not scary and is more comedy blah, blah, blah, but it's a highly entertaining movie. I mean, we already know Chucky is alive so there's no point toying with the audience for the first forty minutes like in the original film. It can't be nearly as suspenseful when they've already established what he is in three other movies.
The second and third films weren't scary so I think the direction they took with Bride was definitely the way to go. I love that movie. Curse of Chucky was excellent and they did manage to somewhat make it scary again but I thought it was kind of pointless to wait so long before he "comes alive" when we all know it's going to happen.
I would definitely watch Bride, but go ahead and skip Seed.

You can easily skip both of them and will probably thank yourself for it.

If you cant have fun with Seed of Chucky, Your taking things way to serious....
I mean without a doubt Seed of Chucky is one of the worst films ever made, but thats what makes it so fun....The Child in the film, "The Seed" Is among the worst creative failures in Hollywood history, Its so bad, you truly have to question how it ever got past the "what if" stage...
I seriously think whoever designed the Doll and Look, probably started out serious and did a terrible job, but Then It kind of became a joke, They probably couldnt figure out how to fix , so I think they intentionally then started trying to make it as bad as possible , I think they thought "we cant fix this, Lets just make it comically bad and maybe that will sell the movie"...
I've watched Seed probably 5 times and I literally Have a great time watching it every time....
I've also enjoyed the last 2 movies....I think both Curse and Cult were damn good straight to Dvd type movies....
They are currently rebooting Chucky for the big screen
Seed is amazing!
People apply the wrong preconceived criteria and find it bad but I honestly think everything about it is very intentional and subtle and that it goes over people's heads. I don't even think it's so bad it's good. It's borderline avant-garde art, no joke. And it was a smart direction to go in at that point in the series. Also there is comedy and satire at every point in this series, and as well there are some very creative gothic horror qualities throughout Seed so I don't see this sudden drop into comedy people speak of. It's brilliant.
I never watched Bride. I didn't really like the third one either.

shareWell, technically speaking, the first three are the only true Child's Play films of the entire Chucky franchise. Part 3 is my personal favorite. But honestly, Bride of Chucky isn't that bad either. I mean, I wouldn't exactly label it as a 'Child's Play film', but it's still entertaining and watchable for the sake of Chucky. And as in for Seed of Chucky...I wouldn't even bother watching it again. Bride of Chucky was the last genuine installment of the Chucky franchise. And I can't even comment on the Curse of Chucky. I've never even watched it. And I can't believe they're going to do a remake of the first film.
