This film is so much worse than I anticipated

Finally got around to seeing this.

Schlocky, 3rd rate, cliche ridden, terrible acting, plot, stupid rapping.

I'm guessing/hoping this is the worst film Eastwood ever made.

Bob Dylan sucked during the 80s too. It was a weird decade, a period where the nation went back to school and joined a fraternity.

Fair enough :)

reply

I guess I'm in the minority here, I really enjoy this one..

reply

I did too, it was reminiscent of The Dirty Dozen what with all of the training hijinks in the first half and a dire mission in the second half.

reply

Yes, it was very reminiscent of The Dirty Dozen, except the dire mission in the 2nd half was rescuing rich kids who couldn't get into medical school in the states. :)

It would have been cool if Clint had tackled something meaty back then like the battle of The Chosin, the evac.at Hungnam.

This was just another vehicle for him to do his usual schtick of prancing around as a charicature of a hard guy, doing his rahrah for Reagan, while the real war was going on in Central America.

reply

That made no sense.
Let’s agree not to chat anymore.

reply

I don know if it's the worst film he made but I've always thought it's the stupidest.

reply

See. I'm not alone. I thought 'The Unforgiven' was a masterpiece. He is an amazingly uneven director.

But the Unforgiven came from a great novel of the same name. If he has anything to do with a screenplay, its probably schmaltz.

reply

It's not Clint's greatest, but hey, it's Clint so it's still pretty good.

reply

Does the movie fail to perfectly depict reality?

reply

Resoundingly so. You almost couldn't exceed the unreality of this film respecting its subject matter.

Here is a great review (its not kind, but is funny) :
