Aside from Freddy's Dead, this one is probably the worst of the series.

It feels pretty forgotten. Probably because ANOES 3: The Dream Warriors took the series into a different direction.

I think that says more about you than it does the film.

It's just a bad movie. They wanted a sequel and had no idea what to do going forward. This movie is a mess and feels out of place within the franchise, very different from the entries surrounding it.

With Dream Warriors they finally had an idea of what a NOES movie should be, they kept that formula for the 'dream trilogy' (Warriors, Master, Child) becoming progressively sillier as they went with Child crashing at the Box Office after Master was the biggest hit in the franchise. Come Freddy's Dead they just decided it was over, to pack it in and go all out on the silliness as a last hoorah.

New Nightmare was Wes Craven trying to do something meta and interesting and he utilized his I.P. to do so. Freddy vs Jason was a crossover movie trying to bring two major franchises together, then you get a bland late-00s style reboot.

Like a lot of big horror franchises, it's largely a mess. All over the place.



I think 1, 3, 4, NN & FvJ have their merits. 1 is a great horror movie (cool concept and great villain), 3 & 4 are fun sequels, NN is something a bit different and FvJ is pure fan service that is a curiosity given it's a F13 and ANOES crossover.

If you know the history behind this movie it's actually unintentionally a comedy.

Part 5 is the worst for me.

1 > 3 > 7 > 4 > FVJ > 6 > 2 > 5.

I pretend the remake never existed.

I've come to like this one. IMO, 4 and 5 are unwatchable and 6 is inferior to the first 3 but I find it more fun than 4 and 5.
