Is there anyone who always liked it?

This doesn't have a "Halloween III" level turnaround, but the hate has died down considerably over the years.

For me, I've always liked Part 2. It was even my favorite back in the day. I thought it was the scariest and Mark Patton's performance always drew me in.

Are there any others who have always dug this entry?

While this one is not my favorite, I have always liked it. It still felt like a horror film and less like a comedy. Mark Patton was ok, but his performance was a bit odd to me. I think it was direction though, not him. But despite the odd gay tones, which I mostly smile at lightly now, I still think it had enough atmosphere to work for me.

It definitely feels like the odd one out in that it doesn't feature any dream kills. Not my favorite but it wasn't bad.

It wasn't the worst of the sequels. But also it wasn't the best. Somewhere in the middle. What I will say is, it stands out amongst the other sequels. For a couple of reasons.

First reason is Freddy can do things in this movie he can't do in any other movie. Like possess people. Or like when he attacks people at the pool party, without anybody being asleep. I know it was only the second movie, so it was maybe trying to re-establish things, but it didn't all work. So they went back to making Freddy a dream demon for the remaining movies.

Second reason is, the other sequels had some level of continuing the story. Nancy came back in the third movie. And those that survived each movie, were usually in the next ones. Which gave most of the series some level of continuity. It wasn't until Freddy's Dead that they had all new characters at the start of a movie.

I think this explains some of the hate. After the second one, you never found out what happened to Jesse, Lisa or Grady. It's like they didn't ever exist. It feels like a spin-off rather than a sequel. Like you could've replaced Freddy with another character, called it; "Further Adventures On Elm Street" and it wouldn't have changed anything that much. Dream Warriors would be considered the first true sequel.

I loved part 2, but that may have something to do with the fact that it was the first one I saw. It didn't interrupt anything for me, and I didn't have the first movie to compare it to, so I accepted everything at face value. It's easier to enjoy a movie when you can see it for everything it is, rather than everything it's not.

I love the second one. The beginning bus ride scene. You just see the top of Freddy's hat kind of bouncing to the movements of the bus as he takes them out to the desert. Pool party scene is also legendary. The kids trying to talk to him, ha.

I liked all of them. This is the beginning of smart ass Freddie.
